What the f**k?
I was in Shanghai on Thursday when I heard.
At first I didn’t understand. The text message said “What the f***?â€

Thanks for your post josh.
Some of your thoughts really resonated - particularly about feeling for the lads like Lenny, BJ and Roo.
My heart breaks when I think of how hard they fought in the drawn GF - those moments like Lenny's long bomb goal on tired legs and BJ lifting himself up to take that mark.
Yes I know they are professionals who get paid good money to perform but footy is still a game that demands emotional commitment and the shenanigans of the last week are another kick in the guts. I really feel for them.
All we can do is get up off the canvas yet again and give it our best...

Great post, exactly how I feel. So tired of us being in the papers for all the wrong reasons, so tired of hoping against hope that somehow the cards will all fall the right way to get us that elusive flag...
Our motto, however, gives me the courage to continue on the righteous path...
It's still only sinking in how close we came to the ultimate prize, two bloody years in a row...
I think of my mates who barrack for Geelong and the pain they went through in the 90s, we've just blown them out of the water in that stakes...

The future's so bright I've got to wear shades...

It's up to the Club now, to get its act together, both internally and externally. They aim to be at "world's best practice" level - let's see if they can actually achieve that.
It's once again, very difficult for our top 6 guys, but they have proven to be very resilient in the past. I just hope that "the newbees" don't decide to de-list on an ad-hoc basis. Our top 6 have a few good years left in them, so let's show them some support.

Absolutely terrific post mate. One of the best I've ever seen here. To me, it's just the emotion of it all. We really have experienced everything in the last few seasons. The heartbreak that an unintentional toepoke can cause, the hollowness of a drawn Grand Final, the resentment towards a cunning 16 year old schoolgirl who tried to destroy our club.
When I think back to certain moments, and what certain players have done for our club, I can't help but feel Lyon took it all a bit for granted. The first thing I think of is Lenny extracting every single ounce of strength in his body, halfway through the last quarter of a bruising Grand Final, to nail that set shot from 55m. I didn't even think he would have made the distance from 45m in normal circumstances. It seems surreal now - so long ago, and looking back, I can't help but feel that Lyon just seemed a bit distant.
Lyon can't sit "comfortable in his integrity and honour" or whatever other bulls**t he concocted. My ass. He knows he's taken the cheap way out. Whatever happened to "his boys"? As soon as the going gets a bit rocky, he takes the money and runs whilst he still can. There's something a bit fishy about the whole situation...

Yep it was the year from hell.
Never actually enjoyed any of it.
Even the wins seemed hollow.
Felt it was finally over when the Swans humiliated us.
Then this !!!

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
