Still worried.

Agree that Victoria can't support 10 clubs long term.

If the number drops to 9 it will probably mean North has gone
If the number drops to 8 it will probably mean the Bulldogs are gone
If the number drops to 7 it will probably mean Melb are gone (though they are eliminating their debt and rising up the ladder)
If the number drops to 6 it will probably be
probably
.... StKilda

Richmond are on a par but if they make the finals their army of supporters will push them past us.

Coll, Ess, Carlt, Geel and Hawth are "safe" in the top 5 in that order.

I do worry that somewhere in the bottom drawer the AFL has a long term blueprint that specifies 6 teams in Melbourne.

When Fitroy was disbanded in the late 90s, it was the first time I was ever aware that the people who run the AFL were cannibals who would eat their own and kill a foundation cub.

As a little kid, I had a VFL sleeping bag, and it had every club's logo on it. That was how I learned all the teams. Fitroy was on it, and I remember they were often bottom dwellers with us. I remember reading footy history books, and they would always speak highly of Kevin Murray, though I never saw him play. I do remember one year them getting into the finals with Bernie Quinlan kicking lots of goals. So while I didn't have feelings one way or another about their club, I did appreciate their history.

And then you get the joke team, Brisbane Bears, coming in and it sickened me.

Then you get Brisbane stealing Fitroy's jumper, and more sickening crap.

If we were ever disbanded because of the cannibalism of the AFL, I would always hate the AFL, would never watch footy again, and would feel rage if I saw someone else running around in our colours.

The way the draw is rigged is always designed to reduce the membership of some clubs and increase others. More sickening stuff from the AFL.

i'm not against the nationalization of the comp, but the AFL has a lot to be accounted for.

I disliked the Fitroy jumper when it was on Brisbane's back

my worry too enrico.
i don't think it's an if.
unless it grows and goes divisional, melbourne will lose clubs.
which means relocation or merger.
a club would want to be ahead of the pack here and get its best possible terms. seaford isn't the strongest attractor so forget staying there, we'll be merging with an inner city club, or playing in wolloncanballabart.
