Nick Riewoldt informed directly by Ross Lyon of his decision

Post: # 1141841Post sRaf »

Despite what's being reported, Lyon just mentioned that he did tell Roo face to face of his decision. Also informed Lenny Hayes in person.

Bet you feel good if you're one of the other players. Lyon rated two of them.

Gee, poor Nick. At least he had the benefit of being able to ask for an extra shot of pain killer after Ross left. I prefer peth rather than morph myself, although docs aren't too keen on that these days. But it sure takes care of any pain and worries. Of course, neither Nick nor Lenny would have been able to chase him no matter what he told them. But they had been through it before.

If we are honest, this was coming from about one minute after the siren went on GF1. There are only so many times that you can go the well.

Anyway, the King is dead, long live the King!

For me, the MOST INTERESTING part of the whole press conference was when he referred to the discussion with Riewoldt as "emotional".

Assuming Roo was reasonably lucid at the time, I reckon he must have absolutely flipped his lid at Ross, and accused him of everything under the sun.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall in that conversation.

Riewoldt probably has a better handle on reality than 90% of posters on this site. I'm guessing he was disappointed but wished him good luck.

Sorry, Kosifantutti.... i can't agree.... i actually reckon Roo is a bit of an emotional hot-head times.....

I certainly don't think Roo would have wished him good luck at all

Maybe, maybe not...one thing for sure, you don't work closer emotionally with your boss in many other lines of work, and given the year Roo (and the club in general) has had, plus RL's assurances he was staying, I'd say he wouldn't have taken it terribly well.

Poor Roo, How much can one man take? Would love to wrap him up in cotton wool and take away all of his pain! What a true great he is - re turning down the Gold Coast offer etc. LOYALTY is his middle name for sure.He bleeds for this club! Love him for ever and ever . I hope in the future he can look back on his life with lots of wonderful and happy memories....

Waiting somewhat patiently. When it comes, another St Kilda Premiership will be all the sweeter for the wait. GO SAINTS ! ! !

Good first post, and so true. Roo really is among the bravest of the brave.

Well bully for him.

He managed to tell two guys, how about telling the entire playing group during the ample opportunities you had in the 72 hours prior?

3rd player was probably Gwilt. I'm tipping he chose the players who wouldn't be able to chase after him and beat the s*** out of him. So he chose Roo who just had a knee operation and Hayes and Gwilt who are recovering from knee reconstructions.

Yep, I'm with you on this one, K.

Looks like Ross didn't have the soss to confront his entire group of players.

Well, he did address them all and say he was staying...maybe he had his fingers crossed.

Apparently the 500+ who've viewed this topic. Also better to know the truth than to live off the falsities being reported that Riewoldt found out from someone else.

I also do think Ross would have addressed the players as a collective if he was given the opportunity to.
