Should we go after Mark Blake
He is obviously going to be delisted and is an up and coming ruckman which we badly need. Any thoughts.

I know you are being sarcastic... but in all seriousness I would think on a minimum wage or even on the rookie list he could be handy insurance.
Yes we all know that he's a dud, but if McEvoy were to do his knee would you rather Mark Blake or Jason Blake in the ruck?

Hmmm fair enough...
I think it was a mistake to let go of Pattison TBH.
Are we going to go with the McEvoy/ Kosi set up again next season? because if one of them go down we are so vulnerable it's not even funny. Surely Blake won be getting a game next season either...
I think we need to target a mature ruckman for a backup role... any good otions at state level?
There are a couple of options at AFL level but TBH guys like Bellchambers and Hampson will probably cost more than their worth...

How old is he?
I think at this stage there's not much point "topping up". Trade or recruit for players under 23 maybe, otherwise it seems counter-productive. It would be more worthwhile to get games into an existing tall like Rhys Stanley.

Find a tall kid who can play forward as well. Ideally we'd snare a McIntosh type but I don't see it happening so just keep going through the athletic talls until we stumble upon a Sandilands/Cox/Brogan in the rookie draft.
Then again it would also be smart to have a readymade backup in case McEvoy does a knee. Mark Blake however is a petulant sook and I doubt he would want to be coached by Steven King anyway. If we want readymade, look for the best of the state comps.

Ottens/Mooney will probably retire?Spinner wrote:SainterK wrote:Don't reckon we need one.
We need something on the list.
Surely 2 not including Kosi is not enough.
Geelong have like 5 on the list. Ottens/Simpson/Blake/West/Vardy
Can't see Blake there next year.
Reckon Geelong would be happy with West/Vardy/Hawkins

Why were they happy with Ottens/Vardy/Simpson/West/Blake and a rucking Hawkins.
McEvoy... plus a developing Stanley is less than the McEvoy/Gardiner/Stanley combination we went in with in 2011.
We would be exposed to a huge risk regarding ruckmen.
