Goddard's finger pointing and anger is hypocritical
I've had a day to ponder this and i've decided I'm going to post it.
People cry out for Goddard to be captain, because he bleeds for the club, and I agree. He does. He really cares. He really wants to win.
But his effort last night was very poor. In reality, his season was poor.
In the second quarter, Ryan O'Keefe kicked 3 goals. Effectively, finished off our season.
His opponent, was Ryan O'Keefe, before Ross finally released it very late in the second quarter.
Goddard pointed fingers. He yelled at his teamates. When it comes down to it Brendon, when your getting beaten. Just go stand next to him. Just run both ways.

Dan
get the shovel
obviously a required player. But he just doesn't work hard enough when teams and players are beating him.
Gibbs did it too him in round 8 (IIRC, the early game against Carlton) as well.

Rooey's got to work on it as well.SainterK wrote:I thought Ryan did most of his damage when Brendon was moved from HB to the forward line, but I could be wrong?
Anyway, everyone finger points and vents, including the current captain.
STRENGTH THROUGH LOYALTY.

Riewoldt never stops working though. Riewoldt even when he could barely work up a jog 3 weeks ago against Sydney still willed himself to contest after contest.SainterK wrote:I thought Ryan did most of his damage when Brendon was moved from HB to the forward line, but I could be wrong?

Riewoldt wasn't fit this year and didn't perform well, didn't kick the big goals. But you can never question his work rate or his effort.

Quite a quirk for such a talented player
It's all very well for players to play well when running free. And I'm not saying I could do it and impact a game, but playing loose in defence is the easiest position to play in the league.
Even Maxwell does it. Jason Cloke could do it.
Goddard.
Last time I checked O'Keefe had kicked 1 one BJ then BJ replied in kind while O'Keefe was still on him.
O'Keefe then had a new opponent and got a cheapy from Kosi's blunder. Which really should have been given to LRT if I remember correctly.
You want to point fingers have a look at the backline which continually pointed fingers at each other for not helping out.
And maybe just maybe Roo could actually kick those big moment goals...

LOL
i take it you wasnt around oh maybe a month or so ago when everyone that hadnt won a brownlow was deadwood and the answer thought of by another poster was to spade them as they were no good what so ever.
bj as well as many others were whined about on here all year, obviously, as we do, everyone has an opinion
the decision was made to spade him along with roo and a few others
sorry to offend you your holiness and spoil your thread
so he was finger pointing, maybe he ran forward and it was one of the 986 times we turned it over and he was caught out
maybe he was being fat lazy and slow and couldnt be assed running
maybe he was barking instructions as someone else wasnt doing their job either
maybe he was pointing at me in my lounge room calling me a pratt
who knows

How many times has Goddard been the loose man in defence this year??? I would hazard a guess and say not many. Our number one choice for looseman has been Chips all year!Sam23 wrote:Agree.bobmurray wrote:Goddard does prefer to run free rather than be responsible for a man...he

If you hazard a look at my join date you can see that I was here a month ago.
It wasn't funny at the time. And certainly isn't funny now. Simple as that. Your posting rubbish.
Goddard.
I find it amazing that critiscm Riewoldt copped this year but Goddard escaped.Buckets wrote:Last time I checked O'Keefe had kicked 1 one BJ then BJ replied in kind while O'Keefe was still on him.

I was just pointing out (wink wink) that you're intitial point was that it's not great behaviour in a captain.Sam23 wrote:Riewoldt never stops working though. Nothing to do with who the number one choice is.....it's a comment on aBuckets wrote:How many times has Goddard been the loose man in defence this year??? I would hazard a guess and say not many. players preferred playing style and how he goes about it..Goddard and his accountability is a discussion i have at the footy every week.people i sit with don't believe he is accountable at all.....They point it out everytime he runs away from his man and points to a teammate to pick him up....
I believe they are correct...
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window

Where have you been????? BJ has not escaped criticism. You go back to before the purple patch of the second half of the season, a lot of posters wanted him dropped! Me included. But he to his credit turned the corner, see the Freo game!
While Roo has been better he has not been anywhere near his best this year and needs to rethink the way he plays the game from here on out. He can no longer expect to BURN off opponents and take a mark easily. He needs to bulk up and be able to take the 1 on 1's and big pack marks like a power forward.

Looking at the games teams went H2H with BJ
RD 2 - Deledio went head to head with Goddard. Deledio was given the best on ground medal. Goddard had 15 touches.
RD 3 - Watson and Goddard went to head to head. Watson had 33 touches and kicked 3 goals, a clear BOG.
RD 5 - Redden went head to head with Goddard and picked up 27 touches, also kicked 2 goals. Goddard had 26 touches.
R7 - Gibbs went to Goddard. Racked up 26 touches, 8 marks and kicked 2 goals. Goddard found the ball 16 times.
R10 - Was going h2h with Mundy and did well early before getting injured. Had 10 touches and was on top of Mundy.
RD 16 - O'Shea tagged him. Goddard beat the tag. Had 27 touches.
RD 17 - Spent a lot of time h2h with Shuey, and did well. He had 30 touches, Shuey had 24 touches and a goal. Shuey was one of WCE's best.
RD 20 - Mayne followed Goddard everywhere. Mayne kicked 2 early goals on Goddard, with Goddard doing his best to try and free himself up. Mayne continued to follow Goddard up the ground, Goddard was good in the second half. Very good, helped turn the game back in our favour.
RD 24 - Lucas tagged Goddard and they both had 21 touches each.
EF - ROK started on BJ. ROK kicked 2 goals on BJ in the second quarter.
Sorry if I missed any h2h battles, but that doesn't read well for Goddard.
Happy to run forward but often gets taken to town when teams make him accountable. Well, try and make him accountable...
