Fev on footy show

Post: # 1133529Post MC Gusto »

Seriously the bloke deserves a chance.

We stuffed up with Lovett - maybe unlucky...but...we probably should have had a ping at cousins...these things can work out!!!

Fev is definitely worth a punt. Especially for the saints.

Just my two drunken cents

I will go on record saying that I would love to take Fev next season... as long as the leadership group are happy.

Agree with you mate..there will be the don't touch Fev with a ten foot barge pole reaction from some but I think he would be the perfect fit for us..imagine Milne and Schnieds at his feet and Roo playing a roaming role instead..apparently he barracked for the saints as well ..to hell with it..if we snagged a flag before this then may'be not but with his head right he could be the difference ..ironically more likely If Ross isn't coach I reckon..could be wrong and not wishing that but my gut feel

Have a crack!!

Was informed tonight that Lyon was fev's coach for Carlton 2's when he was first drafted, does anyone else know if that is true? So there is an existing relationship. Is it a positive or negative one?

Personally I'd prefer to have Siposs and Cripps and Ledger and Curren adding bounce and energy to the mature Roo and BJ and Dal and Milney.

No.

Chooses when to chase. FFS the game these days up fwd is all about:

1. Fwd 50 pressure/tackles/keeping the ball in
2. Contested marking

Fevola is a lead up fwd who kicks well and doesnt chase. He's been "good" for 6 mths so is now all fixed up????....nup.

I was all for Cousins in our midfield and still reckon we stuffed that up.

Not this one - doesnt make sense.

Walsh/Sippos next to Roo/Kosi....Stanley needs to show something - Im not convinced Cahill/Heyne etc will make it.

Get more mids (even VFL with pace/foot skills), another mature bodied ruck.

I'm getting on the band wagon. of course some sensible types will scoff but what have we got to lose. We are going to be terrible for a few years starting 2013 in any case . We should take the risk. Its too late to be sensible now anyway. we can go back to being sensible for a 5 year rebuild starting 2013.

I have agreed with this all along. Until recently. I think that most of his weaknesses are mental, and therefore can be corrected.

why hurry that up?
what about developing our youth who we effectively put back a year for a 30 yr old with baggage??
why would you rob a Walsh the chance to play and learn alongside Riewoldt while hes still got 1.5 legs?

I'm no judge of character obviously.

I wanted Gardi and am a huge fan of him, I felt we could change his behaviour and did.

Never wanted Cuz and thought he would de-rail us - who knows how that may have turned out had he teamed up with Gardi.

Thought we could sort out Lovett's flaws - still reserved on this one but I believe the club made the absolutely correct decision at the time of hiring and firing.

f*** it, give Fev a go in 2012 if we are in the running, go after him.

If he can be picked up on a very low salary with a completely useless draft pick, Ie 100 grand a year and pick 60, what is there to lose?

Liked the comment made by one poster about the leadership group, or possibly the whole list having some say on it, very collaborative approach, would get buy in from the group and would also ensure Brendan understood that he is wanted by everyone but not thought highly enough of to be a walk in start. May go a way in controlling his arrogance if he knows that 18/19 year old kids opinions on him are valued by the club!

Dont but in to this idea of copying the trend business either, just because the best teams at the moment put a lot of emphasis on forward preassure doesnt mean that it has to be done that way, West coasts tall forward line seems to be working a does there 2 genuine ruckmen! neither are popular trends in modern footy!

plus i like to be entertained, and he is definately an entertainer. I would support the decision to recruit him but would understand if they are not even considering it at the same time!

Maybe this year?

your records not great is it?

I mean, definately no to Cuz cause he was gonna derail the Tigers at a time where I reckon our midfield was a "joel corey" short of the Cats,.....yet you thought Lovett was salvagable?

I too imagine what Gardiner (model citizen) could have done with Cuz in the side (they did end up in Melb at the same time.....oh the horror..)...just imagine the extra centre clearances in a GF...

and now u reckon Fevs a good bet???

I still maintain Lovett was a risk worth taking. And Cousins not.

In hindsight Cousins played some average games... Was injured. Played some more. Then was injured again.

Lovett didnt play any.

Im not going to be one of the 'experts' and work in hindsight. I still maintain my analysis. Even though it fell the opposite way.

I think people get confused... When a risk goes bad... doesnt mean it was the wrong decision to make. Thats what makes a risk a risk.

Get Fev, 150,000 for one year. High draft pick.
