Never seen such a bulls*** list of nominees in my life.
Matthew Pavlich, Drew Petrie, Travis Cloke & Lance Franklin were the only forwards i found in the entire list.
I mean seriously, 90% of that list is midfielders. And, although you could argue that Forwards haven't made a big impact this year (because of the zone) --------
You've got to be f****** kidding me, Jack Riewoldt isn't in the nominees?
Neither is Stephen Milne? Barry Hall? Josh Kennedy? Andrew Walker?????
WHAT THE f***?
Oh, but Josh Gibson, Travis Boak, Matthew Priddis (LOL - I know he's 'underrated' but he can kick as proficiently as a 3-legged-dog), Michael Rischitelli (Congratulations, slightly above average player in the wooden spooners, an achievment), Graham Johncock (................).
Seriously, you're going to tell me, that, of the TOP 20 GOALKICKERS IN THE AFL ---- ONLY 4 OF THEM ARE UP FOR NOMINATION FOR MVP?
Look, i've got nothing against midfielders, and agree that they are crucial to any success a club may have. But i find it astounding, time after time, that a guy who can get the ball a lot is valued over a guy who can kick goals time after time.
Conclusion, I'm either incredibly biased, or retarded...but a lot of the players nominated are GOP(imo) - and not even close to being the best player in the AFL (ie: MVP).
But the funniest part about it, is that Dane Swan didn't even get nominated.
AMENDED: I apologise for not realising the MVP award consists of 3 players from every team.
All i have to say is that i have never seen a more stupid system of voting for the best player, in my life.
The fact that say Jordan McKenzie (first name i looked up, missed 7 games), Dyson Heppel (kidding me right?), Hamish Hartlett - Is nominated for AFL MVP, completely devaluates any award he may receieve.

Hence the reason Dempster is in therestkildathunda wrote:haha gotta love a good rant without even knowing how they are selected.... The PLAYERS vote the players in......
Only Three from each team and Nominated BY the Team.
Jack Riewoldts year slowed considerably....
BTW side note
Pleased to hear Jack Steven mentioned 'by commentators' as one of the maybe top 5 for the Rising Star..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leigh_Matthews_Trophy wrote:The voting procedure for the award is:
At the end of the regular season, each team votes for three players (previously two) to be considered for election.
Two weeks into the finals, the AFLPA sends a final ballot to all players throughout the league. Players cannot vote for their own teammates; in fact, the ballots sent to each team are redacted to remove that team's nominees. Each player has one vote for the award. The leading vote-getter receives the trophy.
