Most important player come finals (unsung hero)
....Is Gilbert
He is hard nosed and attacks the ball and player like no other member of our team (not named Lenny Hayes).
Is a utility, can play anywhere. Can free up Fisher and adds rebound. Is not afraid to take teams on and creates scoring opportunities.
In finals intensity, disposal efficiency is usually down. The majority of players skills will come back to the pack with the exception of guns like Goddard, Dal, Pendlebury, Ablett etc.
His confidence is back. He's been very good for us over the last couple of months.
His aggression will be exactly what we need. He will turn the ball over on a few occasions. That's to be expected.
I'm expecting a big final series from him whether we play 1, 2 or more games.

It was good to hear in Sam's own words how he's felt as the year progressed

nd he felt he was not in his own body early in the year....

I think Riewoldt has proved that he is an above average finals player. Twice in as many years he has pulled us across the line in a prelim through sheer will power. He also played an amazing game against Collingwood in the 09 Qualifying final from memory.dcstkfc wrote:Of the 23 that are most likely to feature (this is with respect to their own usual standards): From my memory-

He is marked harshly on his GF performances, but he has certainly proved that he can get the job done in the big games.

Is there any bigger game than the GF?#1GILL wrote:

Gilbo is building for a good game this week. Didn't mention his kicking practice !
This was probably one of the best all-round player interviews that I have heard all year. It covered "lots" of territory. It was good to hear in Sam's own words how he's felt as the year progressed

Fair point. Probably deserves to be in the average category.meher baba wrote:dcstkfc: I don't agree that Peake always under performs in finals: he was nearly BOG in the QF against the Cats last year.

Correct... there is no bigger game than the Grand Final, but this year things are different... without the double chance every game for St Kilda now is a grand final!Bernard Shakey wrote:Is there any bigger game than the GF?#1GILL wrote:

However, your response is not in the context of the original topic which is "Most important player come finals" not "Most important player come Grand Final"
