You guys are about two days behind Bigfooty - you really should get out more often.

The Saints yesterday rubbished a report claiming Lyon had been offered a two-year extension by new head of football Chris Pelchen but Lyon wanted a three-year deal.
SNF are still running with the claim that Pelchen put a two-year contract on the table, but so far it is still an "exclusive" with no source named.

Who the fire truck is SPORTSNEWSFIRST?
They sound like a exceptionally reputable online BS agency.
Look at the quality of that piece of writing... taking one story & then adding pure speculation & the opinion of the writer to produce a contradictory slab of rubbish.
Settle down nervous nellies, surely by now you're over taking word from the media (especially dubious online purveyors of misrepresentation) as gospel.
Good to see the Pelchen bashing has started early too. Can't wait to see the vitriol if/when he starts the rebuild & a few favorite sons get traded.

Yup... and I'd reckon if Melbourne were offering $5 million over 5 years then you'd/he'd take 80% of that to stay, assuming he's relatively happy here.Teflon wrote:Id give him 3 years now on top of remaining 1.
Why?
We will be going into an extesnive rebuild post next season for sure. That will need time. Hes earnt it. Giveit to him.
and can anyone tell me whose better who is currently available??
Hes in the top 3 coaches in the AFL. You keep them.
But the details at least about the Melbourne rumour are likely bollocks, and this one almost certainly is entirely.

It's good to see the corrective feedback coming through from Posters. I mistakenly thought that the site mentioned in the OP, "may" have had some credibility.
The Saints are in a critical phase of team development and it's important that right decisions are made by the Club. Bobmurray's list of also-ran coaches is very interesting, when you look back at how many we have had over the years!

Might mean they've taken $100 on it.
I don't see the problem in offering Ross a 2 year extension on his current contract. Offering coaches / players 5 year deals is ludicrous - a lot can change in a year (or 2). Lets leave the 5 year contracts to rabbles such as Richmond and Melbourne. If he leaves so be it. Of course I would prefer him to stay however not if we are being held at ransom to give an (unusual) longterm deal. No player or coach is bigger than the club.

Maybe, just maybe, the d'heads have punted on the WRONG LYON.
Could be Gary and not Ross. Keep that in the back of your minds you panic merchants.
My info is that Ross will be signing a new contract at season end (could be after GF) giving him an additional 2 years - ie year end 2014.
