Milne = Finals Choker (help debunk)
I have a clown ( Cats fan) in the office who goes on about Milney being a "choker" in finals.
As I said, he may not have played his best in finals , but that is long way from "choker".
Anyone got the stats of his finals work, versus regular season.
Please help debunk this....

Just hit the fucker in the mouth with a stapler or something.
Some wankers just ask for it.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I wouldn't even defend it. He's quite played well in three finals including the last final we played them in.mordi wrote:I have a clown ( Cats fan) in the office who goes on about Milney being a "choker" in finals.

You should shoot back and ask him about the usless receiver Matthew Coces. Now he's a big game choker.
Not to mention Josh "I can hear your footsteps" Hunt. or the dirtly head ducker called Josh Smellwood.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

...and EVERYONE except BJ went missing for the replay. Watching Harry O throwing grass up in the air like Matthew Lloyd having a shot at goal made me laugh, watching him actually kick it made me vommit bile. But let's not go there.SaintPav wrote:What do you expect exactly in a game that is tied at 10 goals each? I thought he played ok. He kicked two goals and beat Harry O IMO.spert wrote:Didn't set the world on fire, and flopped in 09 and the replay when the forward line went AWOL
Agree, Milne wasn't a standout absentee at all last year.

His average in all games is 2.1, the best for any small forward who has played 200 games in the history of VFL/AFL.
His average in finals is 1.6, which is certainly down on his overall average. However, remember that in finals he is up against the best teams. Every player who has played more than 100 games, and more than 10 finals, has a worse average in finals than overall. For instance, a player has kicked more than ten goals in a game 123 times (including Stephen once) but no-one has kicked 10 in a grand final. The only small forwards with more goals in finals than Stephen are Paul Chapman and Leigh Matthews. Leaving aside one of the three best players ever, if the argument is that Paul Chapman is a better player than Stephen, including in finals, then I would have to agree. So far, Paul Chapman and Matthew Scarlett have delivered Geelong two flags. But coming second to Paul Chapman is hardly cause for being described as a "choker". In fact, the evidence suggests otherwise. I would love for Stephen to kick three in each final from here, something no other small forward has, on average, achieved in finals. Alas, it is likely that we will need more than three from him if we are to progress much further than week 2.

He did, 332 in fact, but not all as a small forward. Apart from his time as a rover, for about four years, he was Hawthorn's full forward. His average overall was 2.8 goals per game, while his average in finals was 2.5, just another player with a finals average less than his career average. If we are going to bag Stephen because he isn't as good as Leigh then it is getting a little silly. As I mentioned, Leigh is one of the best three ever, and as good as Stephen is, he is simply not in that category.kosifantutti23 wrote:I'm pretty sure Leigh Matthews played more than 200 gamesperfectionist wrote:His average in all games is 2.1, the best for any small forward who has played 200 games in the history of VFL/AFL.
