What a strange game. Thought we were shot, and then we just kept grinding away and eventually got back on top. Was just thinking...'oh well. maybe not a bad thing to miss the finals'. They looked like they didn't want it for the start of that quarter.
Kosi making a difference. Allowing Roo to get away a little bit. Hope Armo doesn't get into trouble for the sling towards the end of that quarter.

Well the second quarter was a game of two halves... goddard into the middle has been the pivotal move to get us back into the contest.
Roo/Kosi really providing good contests up forward and schneider and milne have been active.
Dempster doing a job on Boomer.
Peake working hard, but not quite getting enough of it. It'll happen for him in the 2nd half if he keeps working.

F*** Ball , who cares ...Old Mate wrote:No Hayes no Ballkalsaint wrote:Where's the Saints Footy? Why cant they win clearances. Instead we seem to spend all the time running back to support defence rather than win the ball (stats show this even though they dont always mean much).
Jack Newnes happy to be a Saint !!!! PS and to hit a target !!!
It's been a great game, very entertaining to watch because of the high scoring. We have dominated parts, they have dominated parts. Neither side is giving an inch... gotta respect everyone.
Some of the things that stood out to me were:
* Polo is brave. Betcha he has a big bruise around his kidneys this week.
* Kosi's made a big difference. Dominating in the air.
* Roo is doing noticably better. I like his new 5 step kicking action.
* Milne has been unlucky not to kick more... been in the right places. He is in stellar form this year.
* Dawson looked in difficulty facing a bigger, stronger opponent in one on one marking contests... but it hasn't been down there in the last 5-6 mins, thankfully.
* The midfield clearances were going against us terribly until Goddard went into the centre and just turned it around. Magical player.
* Armo is always handy around goals... always has been, even in his earliest games he was dangerous there. Good to see him get a goal from a clearance. He's done great contested work today.
* A fair few of our players have been quiet... I haven't noticed Gram, for instance, very much.
* It was very interesting to me that the whole time we went quiet, Peake didn't get a touch for about 10 minutes. Reinforced the fact that he is vital to us with his run.
* We're losing the hit outs again (21 to Goldstein, 13 to McEvoy) but that is not as bad as it could have been! Better than last time. And we won the last 6 clearances of the quarter... which made all the difference.
* Harvey from North has been Dempstered. Tick!
* Clint really picked up in the second quarter and kept his man to 3 possessions... well done!
* Dal has had 15 possessions this half, and it's a sign of what a good season he has had that he hasn't been as noticeable this week as some other games.
GO SAINTS!

McEvoy shanks from 20 out right in front after great work by Steven. This should be put to bed. We're butchering opportunities but have all the running for the moment.
