Foxtel Telecast a Disgrace

Post: # 1123702Post Jacks Back »

Fox Sports telecast was absolutely pathetic today.

They keep missing live play to watch a stupid replay.
Some one shooting for goal is taken with a camera back in Melbourne.
They show Roo kicking for goal and keep the camera on him instead of watching to see if the ball actually goes through the goals.
Peoples heads in the way of camera shots.
Dwayne Russell.

Fair dunkum amateur hour!

The spud director, cameramen and d**khead Dwayne should all get the boot. FFS!!

Surely they've got to get a a good commentator or two for next year maybe from ch 10 now that their not doing the footy next year.

AND SHOW THE LIVE FOOTBALL. After all, isn't that what they sell themselves on

Russell is always wrong.....sports broadcaster, who doesnt know what he is talking about.....

Example
Riewoldt off a quiet game last week, with 10 poss and ONE goal....
Seriously.....

The wide camera was way too wide, very poor directing. I have filmed 100's of games of footy and at times you could not see the ball. they'd want to lift their efforts.

Dwayne Russell. Wow. It's like he's involved in a contest to use the most hyperbole and cliches. Pathetic excuse for a commentator.

I thought I saw the work of Alf Potter on this one. Then again, he's been dead for years. There is a view amongst newbies to the footy telecast that they can find "new angles" to view the game. Crap. The best view is from the wing with double cameras from the same view to zoom. The occasional 45 degree or behind the goal view can be good, but it needs to be occasional. What they should do, but don't, is the split screen. That is far better than missing goals while someone has a podiatrist attend to an ingrown toenail.

Spot on. He is an awful commentator. Just awful.

Listening to him is like hearing a howling dog on heat and at the same time being repeatedly struck over the head with a mallet.

"MARK OF THE YEAR"

"GOAL OF THE YEAR"

Seems like he has a new contender for every game he calls.

Nothing like a HD shot of the crowd when the ball is in play.

After much contemplation, I can come to no conclusion other than that he is a robot.

Russell annoyed me quite a bit today. He said Milne had been out of sorts lately as well. I suppose he can't remember past last week.

Channel 7 are just as bad. I remember the game against Richmond when Nicks cousin got concussed there was probably more footage of him on the bench than game footage.

The radio stations are just as bad. SEN sounded like the Sydney cheersquad Sunday.

Foxtel isnt the only one with shite commentators, am I the only one who is getting sick to death of Commetti? He spent most of the Bulldogs vs Port game talking about wrestling.

For me it wasn't ant-St Kilda bias, just the inane robotic-cliches and lack of respect for his fellow commentators from Russell that drove me nuts.

He just sits there piping out his shite seemingly oblivious that there mighjt be others commentating, or worse till listening.

I still like a number of callers- McAvaney, Cometti, Lane, Leonard, Hunt and most of all Gerard Whateley.

I agree, one of the worst telecasts I have seen in a long time. And that includes watching the odd tassie statewide league games.

If they are going to have a camera in the top of the stand, they could lift it up another foot or two so we dont get peoples heads in the shot. It felt like watching a movie filmed in the cinema on handicam.

You have a point but it's still Sh!t though. 95% of the special comments yesterday were from a Swans POV and many of the comments were factually incorrect or LIES as you like to call them.

I thought the camera work was pathetic. Too far away for me to read their numbers, then so close you could count their nose hairs. Very poor directing.

Too many times we got a blurred picture of some trainer's back.... then we zoomed away so far you couldn't see the play.

Must use Thugby Cameramen.

Just sent an email to Foxtel complaining about Dwayne Russell's commentating.

Told them to check this thread as to all of the other issues re the telecast.

So send an email re Dwayne and his object of desire- the Sydney Swans.

My opinion is that I would like a footy commentator to just call the game. He should give no opinion at all on a play. Dwayne Russell likes to takes sides every time he calls a game. It was evident that he was supporting Sydney. Time for the television media to take stock and Foxtel to recruit new commentators.

I totally agree and at the end of the email I mentioned the late and great Clynton Grybas who always called the game with objectivity.

A telecast that doesn't alienate one side at the expense of sucking up to the interstate teams, time and time again.
