Not sure what sort of penalty these things attract these days.

not reported at such, just referred to look after Adam (the 6th umpire or 4th) harangued the 1st umpire Ray from the square to the 50 line even though he had told the 6th umpire Adam that the fifty for tripping went out 5 years ago.
And about 10 min later they - the real umpires; realised that Adam the unoffical 6th umpire; had been throwing his arms in the air just a tad too much and to be cautious of it.

Did you make Ray the 1st umpire. I'd love Goodes in my team and he was tripped by foot and as such the tripper is in trouble.saintbrat wrote:not reported at such, just referred to look after Adam (the 6th umpire or 4th) harangued the 1st umpire Ray from the square to the 50 line even thpough he had told the 6th umpire Adam that the fifty for tripping went out 5 yeara ago.

Just goes to show, after 50 years, you still haven't seen everything.saintbrat wrote:not reported at such, just referred to look after Adam (the 6th umpire or 4th) harangued the 1st umpire Ray from the square to the 50 line even thpough he had told the 6th umpire Adam that the fifty for tripping went out 5 yeara ago.

Umpire Perfectionist would have blown his whistle and reversed the free because of Mr Goodes "demonstrative" display, in accordance with the rules. Having umpired over 300 games, it comes as no surprise that a player does not know the rules. However, a player remonstrating with the umpire, even though he has been awarded a free, is a bit novel. The fact that he did it twice is, I'm afraid to say, an indictment of the weakness of the umpires involved. Razor Ray, an umpire whom I admire despite the morons in the media, should hang his head in shame on this one.
On the issue of the trip, the important point from my view is that he did it with the foot. However, the MRP rules make no mention of this. The only issue will be whether it was intentional or reckless. If it's the former, there is a two game sanction which can be reduced to one with an early plea. If it is deemed reckless, then it is one which can be reduced to a reprimand on an early plea. It is likely to be the latter but, from my point of view, sticking your foot out to trip should see a suspension. But when outcomes are more important than actions, then I am likely to be backing a loser on this one.

Goodes got 66 points for it himself in Round 9. He used his foot as well.
Adam Goodes, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a Level One tripping offence against Brent Guerra, Hawthorn, during the fourth quarter of the Round Nine match between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, played at the SCG on Sunday May 22, 2011.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 66 points towards his future record with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from Hawthorn, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand. He has an existing bad record of one match suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 88 demerit points. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 66 points towards his future record.

I suggest Ray as First umpire as having listened to a few games on Umpires ears, and 2 Involving Ray he presents himself as head umpire on any day- giving directions and suggestions and pats on the back if need arises.. the watch for.. note.. etcBernard Shakey wrote:Did you make Ray the 1st umpire. Quotes from today : " Adam told me about that" ( couldn't see another umpire listed as Adam)
query from other umpire as to who Ray ran/ backed into- ' Did you see who knocked you Chambo'? reply " I may be busy But can't see from th back of my head" or simliar.

They said that they were running in different directions, towards the ballozrulestrace wrote:And Beau Waters got off on his non-bump on Timmy Watson Jnr.
Apparently they were running in different direction but at the same angle (I think) and therefore is wasn't a bumping issue. (I think)
Not suprised ..
How is this so!
