New investigation on Lovett
Not much detail in the report. I wonder if this one will get out of the blocks.

H-S had nothing so they had to report on their competitor's article. Why bother?

Nah, he will get off again, probably not even charged, way the system works, rape cases are very difficult to get a conviction on if there is no evidence other than sex taking place; barring the accused confessing that is. Especially if the accused can hire a good lawyer.bergsone wrote:Dodged a bullet last time, struggle to do it again with his past history
I agree. They will just say Andrew Lovett. Anyway doubt this will go to far. Not much seems to have happened in 6 months.bergsone wrote:I doubt they willDr Spaceman wrote:Given the allegations of this one, hopefully the media will simply refer to him as (former) Essendon player Andrew Lovett.bergsone wrote:Dodged a bullet last time, struggle to do it again with his past history
would have been left to now so that the publicity would not have prejudiced his first trial...will depend on the evidence whether or not it's a goer.......bergsone wrote:Dodged a bullet last time, struggle to do it again with his past history
would like it to be shown that the guy is not bullet proof as he has suggested.....

Oh come on... Sheeds and Hirdy are men of the utmost integrity...They've proven themselves as such as recently as this year...markinUSA wrote:What upsets me is that this refers to something which happened while he was at Essendon. They would have known of the allegation before they gave him stellar character references.

Agree. How can we have been so naive to have taken their "character reference" at face value when a high draft pick for the Bombers was on the line? Their loyalty was bound to have them do what it takes to score the best deal they could for their club.markinUSA wrote:What upsets me is that this refers to something which happened while he was at Essendon. So much for "due diligence"

Both. And he was at NM before that and he was at the Dogs for a while before we pached him. He also worked at the ACB. I used to work with him.Thinline wrote:Wasn't Drain from Essendon originally?stinger wrote:yep...and that's why certain officials got the arse.....

With respect..we whinge when Lovett is incorrectly linked to St Kilda..yet are happy to discuss him in a Saints Forum
Especially as this time the alleged incident happened while he was an Essendon player, this thread should be moved to the Oppo Forum
No wonder people complain noone goes in there..when noone will post there..is there a concern that very important opinions wont get seen???

The most telling remark was from the former
Essendon fitnees guy who was Lovett's flatmate saying only a very brave team would take the risk of drafting him.
Still makes me mad that
a) we drafted this scumbag rapist in the first place, and
b) we paid out good money to a serial assaulter who should be in jail
