Amazing passion back then.

Today it's dead, and the game is worse off for it.

Wow, that's amazing.

Was too young to remember that, so...wow.

Well I think we did Stewie and Burkey proud, we're definitely a strong(er) club now.

I was there that night and payed $10 dollars for a bit of the banner which the cheer squad were selling outside the waverly ground.
The night was brilliant and I thought a day flag was a monty, how wrong was I.

The social club back at Moorabbin was crowded also that night. Good celebration, but sadly no disco!

Yeah I remember we played North in Round 1 at Waverly..and hordes of people were wearing "Preseason Premiers" commemorative T-Shirts

North (in particular W.Carey) ripped us a newie

68 000 there that night, and by Round 3 v Melbourne we couldn't even get 12 000. Yes, Strength Through Loyalty indeed.

I was there.

Although only 14 at the time, I had a great night!

Wish there was more joy to come in the years following but not to be. Doesn't mean I'm not prepared to hold for the good times that lie ahead.

I will never forget the guy on the goalpost!

But check out the commentary - at first, they are treating it as just another preseason game... they are so disconnected from the emotion of the crowd!

That was one of the best nights of my life. I ran across the ground, jumping up and down. Brilliant.
