I take it none of the regulars are at the game today?

Two more goals for Werribee... final scores 13.16 94 - 6.7 43.

Report from a mate at the game says Walsh and Simpkin the standouts for Saints-listed players.

Goals Boland 2 Walsh Heyne Ferraro Eddy (if I heard correctly).

I thought that Walsh got injured a week or two back? I guess he's ok. I didn't see the Dawson offence but if he misses next week, you'd suspect that Walsh and Simpkin are suitable replacements. Good to see both performing.

Sandringham
Goal Kickers: M. Boland 2, T. Walsh , R. Eddy , R. Ferraro , N. Heyne
Best Players: S. Baker, T. Walsh, M. Marigliani, R. Eddy, M. Gardiner, P. Cahill

Really happy to see that Tommy Walsh is continuing to get consistent best player reports and paticularly pleased to see Cahill in the best too. I really think he is a keeper and with another pre season could be a great second or third forward. :D

The exact report I got was
Walsh just took a nice mark on the lead at full pace, spotted up Cahill with a 30m pass, got it back on the half forward flank and bombed a beautiful penetrating kick into the wind to the top of the square. Very nice kicking action.

I was at the game and it was a very ordinary performance by Sandy.
Don't know who does the best players at Sandy, but Tommy was clearly best, Bakes was just a game, Cahill did SFA, Eddy was Eddy and Gardi got through the game well although I thought he was beaten by Majak Daw.

I would expect Tommy Walsh to come in for Dawson this week.

It doesn't really make sense bringing Walsh in for Dawson, as much as I want him in it would seem the club are now developing him him as a forward. I would think Blake or Simpkin would get the nod for Zac.

If i were promoting on the best available player in the magoos today who can play back, then from what i saw today i would give Walsh the nod.

Just my opinion not RL's

I was there.
In my opinion it will be Blake in if Zac goes. Not because he was great but no one else was much better. Tom was ok but i still dont see him making the leap to the ones. Blake is proven and versatile Ross will want him.
Cahill Pfft
Curren showed some promise in a couple of things he did.
I cant see Bakes getting back without a huge improvement on todays effort.
Smith in it a bit but such poor disposal.
Thought Gardiner ran out the game strongly.

My overwhelming thought as I left the game was there there is Zero depth in Sandy on todays performance. Better hope for zero injuries.

I saw the first three quarters and agree with what most said.

Walsh was the standout but I was really looking for him.
Gardiner was competitive but probably beaten by Daw. Daw took a couple of great speccies. McAvaney will loooovvvve him.
Heyne did a couple of nice things so did Curren.
Simpkin looked solid
Blake and Baker didn't do a lot
I didn't realise Eddy was playing but I only had a footy record in the third quarter.

Lots of injured players sitting around me at one stage. Archer, Ledger, Sipposs. And with Riewoldt and Hayes out that's two less players at Sandy.

Blake is not a full back - even Maguire is a better full back than Blake!

Simpkin is more at home using a defensive fist - but is his pace up to scratch to handle full back?

Johnson is another alternative given his experience in the position.

However we are now at a position where we must continue to win to consolidate our crack at the business end.

Therefore I would go with Gilbert if Dawson is out.

The outer defensive positions are well covered, noting Clarke got the guy from Adelaide when he was moved forward last night.

Gave away size but made sure he had no impact forward after being BOG until moved from defence.

Sandringham coach Brett Lovett cut a dejected figure post-match after a 30-minute soul-searching meeting with his players.

The Zebras have managed only 24 goals in their past four matches.

"We've got four games to go, we're still an outside chance to play finals footy," Lovett said.

Marcus Marigliani battled hard for 35 touches, while St Kilda's Steven Baker was Sandy's best.

"I thought Stevie Baker did well. He was one who really did have a dip and fought hard and in the one-on-ones with a stronger body he was rarely beaten," Lovett said.

Lovett conceded Michael Gardiner was not as effective as last week, with just 10 disposals opposed to Will Sullivan and Daw in the ruck.

Gilbert is a running back. If he is used in another position it changes our backline. If Zac goes he will not play FB. It will be left for Simpkin, Blake or Walsh.
