Tale of the Ladder
If Carlton loses that opens up position 4 on the ladder, but secures Essendon a spot ahead of us, if Carlton win, then we go back into the 8.
Gold Coast are showing heart and talent against Collingwood, definitely we MUST not underestimate them next week.
Melbourne V Hawthorn, A win to the hawks nails Melbourne, but a win to the dees as unlikely as it is, puts them in the same number of points as us.
WCE v Freo, a WCE win puts them in position to threaten for 4th spot and a home semi when they lose to collingwood, a win to Freo puts them 2 games ahead of us and secures their chances of position 4,5 or 6.
Again our fate is our own, but watching the cards fall, adds to the game

It's hard to decide what I want to happen. I hate all those teams accept for Melbourne. Is there any chance of us getting any higher than 6 th?.
I don't usually worry about othr teams winning or loosing to help our cause because I think if you can't do it yourself then you don't deserve it. But after all the shyte we have put up with, particuarly the crap over summer, the poor start, we would do well to finish in the eight, and if that happens, you never know

I think we can make 4th but that would be a stastical anomaly requiring us to not only win all our games but getting other teams to lose strategically.
I think the best case scenario would be 6th, with WCE 5th, so we play a home final, then a home semi against the loser of 1 and 4, then a home prelim as these things go.
We could miss the finals altogether if we don't win enough games as well.
We have GCS (A), Freo, Collingwood, Sydney (a), North, and Carlton to go.
It is assumed we should be GCS and Freo. That leaves us on 10 1/2 wins.
Sydney (rising confidence), North (rising confidence), carlton (no.4) and Collingwood as the teams to extract 2 to 3 wins.
Again our fate is in our hands.

MIght be in the 8 on % by the end of the round given the hiding Carlton is dishing out to the bombers.
GCS is certainly playing with vigor and heart despite being hopelessly outclassed by Collingwood.
More than a worry if we drop our heads for a second next week, no talk of resting players and taking it easy IMO.
North and freo are no gimmes either.

I know I shouldn't do "coulda's shoulda's", but Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond and Carlton = 14 points for a total of 48 points and 3rd place.
That said, still our fate is in our hands, if we can't beat North and Freo and be competitive against Carlton and Collingwood, then we are just making up numbers.

and with a game in hand ahead of Sydney and Bombers.- we've played one less than them and carlton.
staying in the 8 the first step- endeavouring to get to 5th or 6th the next for homefinal.

Sydney, Carlton and North ahead of us.
All three are in reasonable form.
Carlton just destroyed essendon, absolutely destroyed them, in 1/2 of footy.
Sydney are mongrels in their home pit.
Will be interesting to see how freo man up before we have them here for tea.

Dangerous thing to do I know ....
but if you award each remaining game to the team currently ranked highest on the ladder, we're left with a 3 way tie for 8th spot with Saints, Melbourne and Essendon (currently all within 2 percentage points of each other)
and 6 points shy of teams above and below.
The games against Freo, Swans and Blues are genuine 8 pointers.

Faithful Even Unto Death
I think Freo and Essendon have the hardest runs ahead of them and are the most vulnerable.
But as I've said, our destiny is in our hands. Should we be too arrogant we'll get rolled by GCS, they performed as well as us against the pies.
Similarly Freo are no gimme either, despite the fact we hammered them a couple of months ago (we got beaten by adelaide at the start of the season as well).
Then our real tests begin, sydney, collingwood, North and carlton.
