Looking ahead to the Gold Coast
Absolutely fascinated to see how the Pies handle the Coast tonight.
The Suns have studied St Kilda, Collingwood, and Geelong fanatically for two years (note their coaching ranks are made up of expats from those three clubs). It's little surprise they took a half time lead against the Cats.
So carrying the same theory forward, you'd expect the Pies to have to fight a bit.
Interesting to see how we go against them. The Suns have little in the way of forward structure whereas our back six run a tight ship. But they do absolutely tear up clearances, something that we DON'T do if we are even slightly off our game. Zac Smith v McEvoy will be an interesting duel. And do we let Ablett roam on the basis that we'll have someone equally if not more damaging freed up, or do we send in the Dempsternator/Clintbomb? OR maybe take out Rischitelli instead? And Bock to Riewoldt will be good viewing. Bock doesn't give up easily, but Roo could give him a deadset soaking if we get good supply.
They'll have a dip, the Suns. Adelaide they ain't...
Anyway, will be interesting viewing.
I don't expect a cricket score.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Geelong lost the 09 GF because they didn't give hawthorn respect till too late.
We lost to Hawthorn in 'that' game in 99 because we didn't give the hawks respect.
we should account for GCS comfortably if we show them respect, and stick to our game plan.
IF we treat them like rubbish, don't tag, don't tackle, run off and expect to destroy them, then we'll have our pants pulled down.
I'm expecting a comfortable 30 to 30 point win. RL won't let the boys get big heads.

I think we should rest anyone who even has a niggle next week.
It's not being cocky, just not worth risking anyone this point in the season.
Oh, whoops, they're injured also.
Maybe give mini and bakes a game?

We had a bye 3 weeks ago.....No time to rest for the saints. We're not in a position to rest players, and if we rest some big names next week, GC17 will roll us up there, and if that happens, then you can rest them,as it's curtains 2011.
Next week is far from unlosable, they will trouble us.

If we we're where Collingwood is, or where we we're two years ago, then we would rest players.
But we still haven't secured a good spot in the finals, so we can't rest or play around with form.
Our goal next week should be to do what we did to Adelaide last night.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

just change the 'select territory' tab
GCS are not to be take easy.
We need to go in, and play our best football.
ATM % is almost as important as the 4 points.
Let our boys not write this down as 4 points now, or we could be embarrassed severally next week.

Go flat out in every remaining game except The Filth....
If we comfortably win the next two; then rest players against Collingwood...
.. They are currently the most likely GF contender.....no point in them knowing how much we've improved since we last met...
....I'd rather surprise them during the finals if we meet them there.

I disagree.
If we are within 2 or 3 goals of the pies they'll know we are coming.
Every game is a final for us now. We are not only jostling for position in the finals, we are jostling to get into the finals.
I don't think we rest any players or take any games easy.
