Schneider is also German (Schneider, Kosi and Gehrig are all descendants of the 19th Century German settlers of the upper Murray River.

Given that Arryn's dad is named Attila, I guess he is Magyar (Hungarian).

Leigh Fisher was Jewish, I think: is he still at the club in some capacity?

Koschitzke is a Polish name

And I have never heard that Fisher was Jewish (and being of Jewish descent I would have probably heard about it if he was)

Montagna, Dal Santo also Italian, perhaps Polo as well

Kosi is of German extraction. I hear the AFL was going to have a round to raise awareness of people with no sense of direction, but were affraid nobody would find the stadium.

Montagna, Dal Santo and Polo are obviously italian.

Remember Polo in an interview some time ago, may have been his BOG in his first game and he mentioned his surname being of Italian heritage, ie polo = chicken.

Luke Ball was part Italian too, I think his mother side were Russo's.

Also, Walsh is Irish. I think. :P

its interesting isnt it
the race thing

you get too easily labeled a racist when you are not even saying a racist comment.

its like the indigenous players want to be treated the same as everyone else, and too bloody right, they have a different colored skin, thats all, we all have different colored skin ffs
but then we get a whole dreamtime round celebrating the indigenous players??

now i like the round, it can raise awareness to how a race of people has been completely mistreated by other races, but mainly its a marketing ploy by the league

so if wanting to be treated the same as all people, no matter our skin color, whats the big hoopla over indig round??

not exactly 'just being treated normal is it'

go ahead and label me a racist
some pratt at work did

Koschitzke is most definitely a Slavic name.

Though he may have had a family that emigrated to Germany at some point in time.

Certainly Polish blood, however...

A large part of Western Poland was 'controlled' by Germany for a relatively long time (decades).

It may be that the name is not typical of German background, but a quick search of the records at the National Archives of Australia shows only 6 records for that surname and all are of German origin.
