Raph Clarke Up Forward

Post: # 1100704Post Lobsterama »

Anyone know why Raphael Carke has not (to my knowledge) been tried up forward?

"Because he is hopeless" would not be a helpful answer.

I reckon he could be a decent option in a forward line currently lacking. He has height, a decent mark, reasonable kick and whilst he is not quick he could put on some better defensive pressure when trying to keep the ball in the forward 50 than some of the guys we have in there now.

Even if it was just tried in the VFL to see how he went?

But close to it. He is a straight ahead player. He is slow thinking as well. Not ideal for a forward and his kicking isnt great. He is, if he plays, a HBF or he doesnt play.

Whack him on the wing with Riewoldt on the other.

We've got about 30 half back flankers.

Yep that would be great. Lets have no forwards but 2 very average wingmen.

Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.

He started his career as a forward. However, with his initial set shot attempts his kicks fell short (when kicking from 40 m out). This was in his first few games of afl.

How it a risk playing Rooy and Clarke on the wing. It is just plain stupid. I told you last week they would play Rooy deeper and Lynch forward. Seemed to work until the players went into their shell.

Riewoldt is best when everyone else pisses off out of the forward line and we are swift with ball movement on the counter.

From there he leads up to just forward of center, marks it and wheels around to whoever is running back or whoever leads across the ground.

Would love to see it. Played forward as a kid.

Although they all played forward as a kid. Seems defenders rarely get recruited... They just develop the not so good forwards.
