Hasn't he been playing a bit in the ruck? I may be wrong. McEvoy seems like a natural forward so playing Tommy may give Mac a bit more time up forward.degruch wrote:I like the idea, but at who's expense? Our backline looked reasonable on the weekend, no-one's injured or suspended.borderbarry wrote:This week would be a good opportunity to blood Tom Walsh.

Our backline was good .. thanks to the outstanding efforts of Goddard, Fisher and Gwilt .. who might be masking a couple of weaknesses.degruch wrote:I like the idea, but at who's expense? Collingwood has improved their backline further - with Leon Neon - we need to keep tweaking things too.
I don't know how Walsh can keep his spirits up playing permanently in the VFL,.. don't underestimate what a morale boost can do for him - if he's finally given the opportunity.
I didnt see to many weaknesses in the backline last week. Who do you think struggled?samoht wrote:Our backline was good .. thanks to the outstanding efforts of Goddard, Fisher and Gwilt .. who might be masking a couple of weaknesses.degruch wrote:I like the idea, but at who's expense? ross said that he was going to play him a couple of weeks ago.....and he would play him...as a ruck/forward before the season was out....samoht wrote:Our backline was good .. thanks to the outstanding efforts of Goddard, Fisher and Gwilt .. who might be masking a couple of weaknesses.degruch wrote:I like the idea, but at who's expense? From what i have seen in the nab cup - and in some sandy games he looks very calm and well poised. Could be a handy addition to either our back or forward line.samoht wrote:Our backline was good .. thanks to the outstanding efforts of Goddard, Fisher and Gwilt .. who might be masking a couple of weaknesses.degruch wrote:I like the idea, but at who's expense? I agree considering the team we need to beat to win the flag, has at least three mobile big men in Dawes, Cloke, and Brown.samoht wrote:Was Walsh recruited to just play VFL games ?

He has good skills also, which we'll need to beat the press.
I still live in hope that we'll be there late in september/october

Is Walsh being bandied around as a ruckman due to our shallow depth in the position or is he being labelled as our version of Leigh Brown (seriously how he has become the prototype for anything apart from a toilet seat I will never know)mohannair wrote:Reported on Ch 10 that Roey left training track early with a knee soreness, in the event he misses out, may be put Macca forward & Walsh ruck & vice-versa
