I'd be struggling to name many. 25 goals from 13 games, 1 down on his career average. on the same standard as Mark LeCras.

Players ahead of him are Buddy, Jack, Kenneday, Cloke, Wlaker, Garlett, Jurrah, Petrie and Pods

A few small forwards have scored a few more goals than him, he's joint 10th on the ladder for goals scored, his career is about 250 games for 500 goals.

he does go missing, but not as often as many others.

I would argue he is one of the great small forwards of st kilda and when he retires will be remembered as one of the great small forwards of AFL.

His highlights reel would be comparable with any in the competition.

Enough of the Milne hatred IMO. He's a quality unit, a saints man, and a loyal player who we know has turned down offers from Fremantle and essendon that we know off, for staying at st kilda for less money.

Well, I'd say Garlett is ahead of him on current form, but that's not taking anything away from Milne.

Milne, like Reiwoldt is no doubt heavily planned for week in week out, more so than most small forwards, simply because if let loose he has the potential to tear games apart. He'll be remembered as one of the best small forwards in history. He still performs for us after all these years and can kick a bag.

Rioli, 64 games for 72 goals., He's going at 1.3 goals per game in 2011.

That's the thing.
So many players come and have a couple awesome years as a small forward, and then drop off and become average.

Milne has been doing it consistently for 10 years, last player to have that sort of record from what i can remember is Phil Matera, and he only played 180 games.

the diff between matera (who averaged 2.5 goals per game) was he was their 'go to' forward for much of his career.

Milne has been the no.2, no.3 or crumbing forward for almost all his career.

His average has dropped marginally as he is expected to contribute up the field under RL than just cadging goals as he did at the start of his career.

His % of our total goals has gone up though under RLs game plan.

Kicking 2.1 when we were kicking 15 to 20 goals was solid, now he's kicking 2.0 out of 10 to 12 goals.

ANd people want to trade him for an oily rag.

He's been excellent over a long period of time. It's one of the hardest roles to play, and he's a pretty consistent performer.

Lenny is about 186 and goddard is about 189 cm I think.

Thats the same height range as KPP in the late/mid 80s.

spud was 191 cm and plugger was 191 cm....

they were giants of the game, physically as well as by reputation.

Yeah, we there is far more run in the game now IMO. You'd never see spud leave the 50m arc, now defenders have much more massive engines.

There are far fewer gorillas like spud in the game these day.

Jees I think even the toughest forwards cringed when spud lined up against them, and he wasn't afraid of anybody either, copped it as well as dished it.

I think he was made of bricks.

That said, Modra got a bath from spud one day, when SOS couldn't keep up with him 2 weeks later.

I agree, he was a really tough and inspirational individual.

Played a season at ff I think and kicked 97. He might have been short, but he was wide. Like a midget Tony Lockett ... massive across the shoulders and a very strong mark who used his body well. Also like Lockett, a lethal kick for goal.

Matter of fact, the best player I've seen ... with the exception of Lockett.

I was at ground level in the forward pocket last night.

Whenever the ball came down, North were hanging off Milney all the time.
He couldn't take his first step without being held or scragged in some way and by much bigger bodies than him.
