Are they the "have nots"?
"of" is not "have"

Well, how the world turns. I remember fighting this fight many moons ago...
I couldn't ask for correct spelling - I make too many errors in this department. I think, at the time, it was more about grammar. This was purely so people's posts could be read easily and the conversation would flow.
It's a show of respect for the other posters if you apply basic grammar. If you want to graffiti these walls with illiterate rubbish, than fair enough, but you're not really upholding standards of decency that we should aspire to. I'm not saying this place should resemble Mensa meetings, but it should be a place for some decent intellectual conversation on making this a better club.
Posting cleanliness is next to Saintliness.
My two cents.

I'll say it again…
'should've' & 'should of' are close to phonetically identical,
same goes for 'would've' and 'would of'
Altough grammatically incorrect, it is hardly disrepectful and if you can't decipher 'He should of kicked it to Lenny' then you have got problems…
Respect is also about accepting that not everyone has the same level of intelligence or education, some will have poor grammar, but they still deserve the right to post a public football forum and in the end, they may know more about kicking around a piece of leather than yourself.
Do you also correct people you meet in the street if they have poor pronunciation?

That's more a spelling issue. I'll get annoyed by it, but I can tolerate it.dragit wrote:Altough grammatically incorrect
So long as people try their best to post clearly and help uphold some decent standards, I'm comfortable with that.
It's when people start posting in text message-speak, all lower case or in giant 27-sentence paragraphs that I get annoyed. It's not showing respect to this place.
Lots of people have tried hard to make this place a decent place to have a decent conversation about St Kilda. It doesn't need to be a dumping ground.
Nor should it be. Some standards, however small, keep whatever integrity this board has intact.
