Need experienced Assit. Coaches
If we look at the Assist. coaches we had in the last couple of years it will be surprising to see that how they were Assit. The coaches we had along with Ross could have coached any team as a Senior coach.
The results we had in last few years speaks for the value of the experience we had in the box.
This year we have all relatively new & hence Ross is left alone.
I think we should look into getting some really experienced Assist. coaches.
I would suggest to look at getting guys like Dean Laidley, Choco Williams, Scott burns etc.
What are your thoughts fellow sainters?

What do you consider 'experienced'?mohannair wrote:If we look at the Assist. coaches we had in the last couple of years it will be surprising to see that how they were Assit. The coaches we had along with Ross could have coached any team as a Senior coach.

2 of your 3 examples are former senior coaches who were sacked/not renewed by their previous clubs.

Just things I've heard from people who know these things.SainterK wrote:What do you base that on Bernie?Bernard Shakey wrote:Don't think Ross is the easiest head coach to work with.
Being a senior coach isn't easy either.
Of course it's easy being a head coach, you can leave the game early for some quiet time with your whiteboard.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Oh look it must be St Kilda, we are blaming the coach AGAINBernard Shakey wrote:Just things I've heard from people who know these things.SainterK wrote:What do you base that on Bernie?Bernard Shakey wrote:Don't think Ross is the easiest head coach to work with.

I hope those 'people' don't have aspirations of becoming senior coaches, if they can't handle being an assistant.Bernard Shakey wrote:Just things I've heard from people who know these things.SainterK wrote:What do you base that on Bernie?Bernard Shakey wrote:Don't think Ross is the easiest head coach to work with.

So who left last year directly because of Ross then

Tell me who develops the game plan we are playing, which is doing great things for Roo's confidence. Who develops players with the foot skills we have.maverick wrote:Oh look it must be St Kilda, we are blaming the coach AGAINBernard Shakey wrote:Just things I've heard from people who know these things.SainterK wrote:What do you base that on Bernie?Bernard Shakey wrote:Don't think Ross is the easiest head coach to work with.

Who sits a player on the bench for 3 quarters, who has no confidence in how he is playing but leaves a kid out of the game whom may be our future.

Re: Need experienced Assit. Coaches
I agree Mr. Magic, 2 of the 3 I suggested are coaches who were sacked but both of them are incredible analyser of AFL, I reckon it will be good to get at least one of them.Mr Magic wrote:What do you consider 'experienced'?mohannair wrote:If we look at the Assist. coaches we had in the last couple of years it will be surprising to see that how they were Assit. Also as suggested in this forum Paul Roos or MAthew Knight will also add value.
Do not get me wrong our current Asst. coaches are into their 1st & 3rd year. So they need some time to develop & all of a sudden Rossy is left alone.

I would also look closely at Mark Neeld. He has been Malthouse's right hand man for a number of years. With Buckley leap-frogging him next year, he might make way for Buckley to bring his own people in !!SainterSoul wrote:Not a bad idea, but can't see him leaving the Pies. That said, if Malthouse goes elsewhere, he may go with him. Think the Pies are able to pay him too much coin to go elsehwhere.defacto wrote:we should throw some serious coin at getting scott waters next year.
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

With all due respect - I dont think anyone can say we replaced them adequately.
Gav Brown would have been nice.
If Ross has an issue with assistant coaches - someone on the Board needs to have the b*lls to raise the issue and give him less power as is what happened to Bomber Thompson in the famous Geelong Review of 2005.

Muffin head Connelly
Terry Wallace.
All very easy to work with - all now not AFL coaches.
Apparently Grant Thomas was a breeze to work with as well.
What a load of bollocks I would say no AFL coach would be easy to work with. Even Paul Roos would have been a prick.
Lance or James??

Much different situation now...Game plan, assistant coachs and older bodies to name a few.maverick wrote:So how did he go in 08/09/10 making top 4 each time?Behind Play wrote:Tell me who develops the game plan we are playing, which is doing great things for Roo's confidence. There's no doubt that the overhaul of our WHOLE assistant coaching personnel has had a huge impact on our team this year. The loss of Silvagni and Tudor in particular, has been massive. It's very rare to see this happen, and will take a period of adjustment. We have a much more inexperienced crew supporting Ross now, and I feel that we need someone who's been around the traps (Robert Shaw, Alan Richardson, Mark Neeld) for a while to be Ross' right-hand man.
The Saints are coming!
