Steven Baker - still a must pick every week!
Higgins 21 touches in the first half - he is everywhere, chopping us off half back.
Baker goes to him as a forward tag, Higgins has 5 handballs and 1 kick in the second half and Baker kicks a goal.
Still a very good stopper.

Goddard.

Excellent game from Baker I thought.
Reckon he kicked it forward more times tonight than he ever has .

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

He did well to nail it in the end, because they put him on a much more acute angle than he was supposed to be on.desertsaint wrote:his gaol saved the night for me - what a crap game.
but bakes scoring agoal - special!
The free kick occurred near the point of the goalsquare, yet the mark ended up being almost beside the goalpost, with Bakes on a very acute angle. It was the worst setting of a mark I can remember seeing and by a long way.
Go Bakes!
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.

Yep. dead right. He was actually set twice. The first umpire was going to pay it on less of an angle but further out. The second umpire came in and I thought (erroneously) that he was going to correct it.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:...He did well to nail it in the end, because they put him on a much more acute angle than he was supposed to be on.

Agree, except for one late in the third which went sideways rather than up the line and cost us.Thinline wrote:Reckon he kicked it forward more times tonight than he ever has
I agree he gives you everthing out there, however Bakes just one thing.
Please, kick the ball forwards!
I felt on at least two occasions last night he broke the momentum in kicking backwards, and it actually resulted in a Dogs goal as he caught our players off guard in disrupting the flow on footy.
At least he got one back
However I think it's fair enough to point it out, is it because he has a purely defensive mindset, or he doesn't trust his kicking?
