Well said Milney!
"ST KILDA forward Stephen Milne says Collingwood president Eddie McGuire should look at his own club's supporters if he's going to take a stand against abuse towards players.....
....but if Eddie went down to the Collingwood cheer squad and heard the things that they were saying I don't think he'd be too happy with their supporters as well," Milne said this morning."

Milne said the Saints had turned their season around after a candid meeting a month ago when a "a few home truths came out".
Backs up Caro's article from last Saturday.

Agree. Where was Eddie when Pies supporters were hurling abuse at Milney in front of his kids during the GF cavalcade last year? Obviously trying to distance himself from his club's coach behaviour! It'd be enough to push you to drink drive, crash your car, run away and blame someone else...or go out shooting with friends...or bash a cleaner...Sobraz wrote:+1...Saint Bev wrote:I really admire Milney. Professional way to handle it. Just say how it is, nothing more, nothing less. Go milney.

I have always felt that idiot players & supporters who abuse Milney
obviously don't care that he has a 9yr old son who must have awful
things said to him about his father. This type of trash sledging MUST
NOT be allowed to continue. We have a friend with a 9yr old who
proudly wears Milney's number & cannot understand why people abuse
him the way they do......imagine trying to explain to him what alledged
"rapist" means. This is a gross injustice on behalf of the AFL after
7 years to have ignored this situation & same & especially by Eddie
who had a chance to take a stance against his own dirty mouthed
coach & a couple of his players. If Milney was indigenous would this
have been dealt with 7 years ago?
This is just my opinion.

Not necessarily. I posted a similar view a few days agoGrumpyOne wrote:A narrow opinion?Megsie wrote:I have always felt that idiot players & supporters who abuse Milney

From what we can tell, the comments made on Saturday night made no reference to race. But apparently, because they related to crime, Eddie could sense racial undertones.
His outburst has now swept across the country. Try googling and you will see articles in media across the land basically lauding Eddie for taking a stand against racist fans.
I look at the Milne situation. It all dates back to early 2004 and as everyone on here knows, no charges have ever been laid. Yet Milne, and to a lesser extent Joey, has had to put up with all kinds of insults, taunts and allegations for 7 years. And as we know, some of that has even come from officials of the game.
Does anyone seriously believe that if Milne had been indigenous, instead of a sickly pale white man, that this would have been allowed to happen? The Malthouse incident aside, the ongoing abuse has never made it into the media.
I honestly believe that if Milne had been indigenous then there would have been a huge outcry well before this, from the media, from Social Commentators and from Politicians federal and state. There would have been cries of racial undertones (i.e. people are implying he did commit the rape because we all know aboriginals are rapists etc).
No one, regardless of their race or background, deserves to put up with what Milne has had to put up with. But because of HIS skin colour, no one seems to give a stuff.
It’s reverse racism IMO, and it simply isn’t good enough.

This bloke cops the abuse on the chin week after week. His reputation outside of St Kilda circles (from what I keep hearing from opposition supporters) is shot. He's been labelled, tarred and feathered by scum-sucking Malthouse and his neanderthal club supporters. He’s got a very thick skin (or so it appears), his professionalism in the face of all of this is nothing short of extraordinary. Milney is a true gem.
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
