Play Zack in Attack!

Post: # 1086423Post saint58 »

Its time that we started to groom other key position forwards and defenders.
Zack has played a lot as a forward while at Hawthorn and he is a good kick has hight and can mark, plus has experience as a FF or CHF>

This would all us to play sippos as a half forward and even put a johnson, stanley,Archer as the other forward with plenty of experience around them.

To replace Dawson i would put in Walsh he has size and is strong, and is mobile. He would learn a lot of the other experinced defenders and could even play CHF or FF.

Roo could play up the ground and we would be a lot better balanced side with the other young guys playing in the middle.

Play Kosi at CHB as well. He won a rising star there.

...for Sandy.... Agreed...

Zac's going backwards, and is creating more bad habits rather than eradicating ones he already has...

Sure he's under more pressure now with the team struggling more often, but he is not improving, and needs to be replaced IMO...

I'd put Roo at FB as well.

my dream spine would be:

Roo

Kosi

Bakes

Archer

Zac

It was tried on several occasions last season, with little to no effect.

Like it. A blend of youth and experience. Also 2 blonds down the spine is important. A red head is a good idea as well.

If this is based on the weekends game, and Warnies calls for some support up there....

Helps if your opposition doesn't go inside 50 almost double what you do.

Need to worry about getting the midfield right.

my spine goes

mcqualter

jones

kosi

baker

blake

sure, no-one can kick but…
the beauty of this set-up is that they don't have to change ends, they could stay up the same end the whole game.

umm no. leave sips out of this. he is a clever 190cm fwd. not a KPP gorilla.
Are you trying to turn sips into a KPP gorilla? Lets let him play to his size. I see him as a Stevie J type. But we need some mature bodies down there. If you think an 18yo medium sized kid should be left in the fwd 50 to develop by himself you must be kidding me. By comparison Chris Judd is taller than Sipps.

Im not saying zac is the answer (he needs a summer on the HGH and the weights) but dont think sippa can be left as a fwd 50 gorilla. He can mark on a lead and do some crumbing. But its the big league and you need to be a friggin big unit to be left in the fwd 50 on your own. Point is we need sips down there but WE ALSO need a big fwd from somewhere or other. Zac is 196cm. So at least he is tall enough. Thats one thing in his favour.

Dont like Kosi in the middle. We wouldnt have any players left to play the second half.

Can't mark or kick long. No use up forward at this level.

The issue for Zac is that he's a VFL-standard defender, and a VCFL-standard forward.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

And whilst we're at it, how about putting Milney in the ruck and have McEvoy as his rover?

How come he won a B&F in Box Hill reserves, playing mainly at CHF, at the age of 18 and then, a few years later, had many other good games up forward in the Box Hill seniors, including a bag of 8 goals? How many "VCFL-standard forwards" would come in and kick 8 goals in a VFL game at the age of 22?
It seems to me he played mainly forward when he was younger, but then out of necessity was played down back at Hawthorn (as they had Franklin, Roughead, Mark Williams and Mitch Thorp forward, but were lacking down back).
He had a game or two up forward last year and I really liked what I saw in one of them, when he took a bunch of marks on the lead and made some other really strong leads that either weren't honoured, or where the kicks missed him. He didn't look out of place there at all to me. He probably wouldn't take many big contested marks, but neither did Fraser Gehrig and at least he could give us a contest in the air, which is what Kosi is supposed to be so good at.
I would have no problem with trying Tommy out at FB and playing Zac at FF to give Roo some support up there.
