I'm glad I don't sit next to some of you.
How about going beyond what some seem to revel in and just barrack and clap and cheer, what is wrong with that.
Have any of you heard of giving someone a second opportunity. I thought Australians wanted people to be given a chance at redemption (do you remember Cousins?)
To say that Krakouer is fair game and can be abused just because either a) they do it to Milne or b) he has been to jail and is still fair game, I'm afraid takes you into a nasty little world of small minded and ignorant people.
Who are the people you want to be like a Collingwood feral Because some of you seem no better or someone who can rise above that and enjoy the footy for what it is.

I think you've missed the point... the comments may have been in bad taste, even if well within the range of abuse you hear every week at every game, but they were not even remotely racist, and little ed is only trying to justify and excuse his own twatish behaviour by painting these comments in that light, and at someone else's expense... when he knows the sort of crap that his own team's fans spew forth ad infinitum.terry smith rules wrote:I'm glad I don't sit next to some of you.

He even had the audacity to say in an interview "what was acceptable in 1993 (coincidentally the year of the Winmar incident) is not acceptable in 2011"... like it was ok racist then, but not now??

The comments were made in the MCC Members, which have stricter rules on abuse than the public areas of the ground. Apparently he was allwoed to stay but his Membership details were taken.
Will most likely get a warning and told to behave in future...which at worst is what it deserved really. If there was even the slightest hint of racism he'd have been thrown out of the ground ASAP

They were even trying to fly the story on bf a while ago that Winmar was reacting to Saints supporters!

Wow.
Things sure have changed since '93, when Collingwood had zero indigenous players and Winmar and McAdam were called "boongs" at Victoria Park (among other choice epithets). Winmar, of course, famously responded by raising his jumper and pointing proudly to his skin. Pies president Alan McAllister went on to declare that Aborigines would gain more respect if "they acted more like us."
Now the Collingwood prez springs out of seat in purple-headed fury when someone has the temerity to abuse to use one of his players with "borderline racism". But was it really borderline racism? From what I gather -- "kick him while he's down" -- it wasn't racist at all. Gee, maybe there was a reference to a criminal past as well. I don't approve ... but we've all heard worse.
Sorry, Eddie, this doesn't erase that ugly Vic Park stain. In fact, the bald hypocrisy just makes it worse.
Oh ... and by the way. Your team is good, no question, maybe even great, but yet again that's on the back of an absurdly advantageous draw. Your team hasn't even left Melbourne yet. On Saturday night you were playing a team that'd just returned from its third interstate trip, this one a draining encounter in 24 degree Perth heat. The fact that the Saints ran out of legs while the Pies just kept motoring on ... it's just logical.

I'm actually a little surprised at Maguire. I would've thought that even he would understand the ramifications of drafting a convicted criminal. Alas, his ego knows no bounds. Maybe the abuse distracted him from filling out his record.
The shame of it is that, as per usual, the media have painted Maguire as the hero coming to the rescue of the racially vilified Krakour. Unbelievable.
We've seen Maguire use his network contacts to save his club before (ala Didak and his entertaining night with a murderer) but it surprises me that all the other agencies follow suit, painting this as a racial issue.
I'll be interested to hear how it's dealt with on the Monday media. Maybe Grant will tell it how it is.

I appreciate your point, but I think it's a separate issue... we're discussing ed's hypocrisy, spin, and fabrication in the face of him publicly losing his rag over a slight (which may have been in bad taste, but was at least legally proven) that doesn't even compare to the slanderous and hysterical rant from his team's coach towards one of our players, let alone the constant moronic chants from his feral hoard.terry smith rules wrote:no that is my pointmarkp wrote:

Has he ever expressed even the slightest concern over that?

What a disgrace this hypocrit is.
And now he feigns "racism" to hide behind.
I hope we hear from the person he was arguing with and I hope that should Fat Ed be lying ...it come out. Its about time we stopped the filthy Collingwood lies.
The crap Ive heard at Pie games levelled at Milne is disgusting and a reason I dont take my kids to Pie games.
What a complete, disgusting grub Maguire is. Money dont buy class.

Presumably the guy just made some reference to the fact that Krakouer was lucky not to still be in jail.
Interesting to note that the MCC interviewed him and decided not to take any further action.
So clearly just another stunt by this scum from Broady.
If he wants to do something about obscene comments then he should start by abusing his coach who very publicly and incorrectly called one of our players a rapist last year, when the record shows he isn't.

The FFC (Filth football club) is the sun and every other club just have to orbit around it.
Fair? No, But until they discover a virus which can exclusively wipe out the filth supporters, and in turn stop centrelink payments and drug money being used to make them the richest club, then we'll just have to live with it.

Huh? Eddie McGuire taking a stance against racism???
Surely, this is some sort of PR exercise. It was probably a retort on his behalf after someone heckled him for being a fat bastard because they had observed Eddie had already consumed his tenth pie before half time.
Next he'll probably get Alan McAllister to say "sorry".
This all seems so bloody contrived for my liking.

The trouble is that Eddie travels in exalted company, mixing with politicians, celebrities, high fliers etc.Sainternist wrote:Huh? Eddie McGuire taking a stance against racism??? Â

A man of the people is our Eddie
He writes newspaper columns espousing his views on everything from refugees to climate change.Â
Everything he does is about protecting his image. Maybe he really does believe all this stuff. Maybe he really does get riled about racism.
Trouble is that most of the 60,000 Collingwood members, and the thousands of others who follow them, haven't changed. Many, many bogans. Many, many racists.
Eddie of course will never admit this, and consequently, will never address it.
Better to deflect all of societies problems onto another club. In this instance that club is St KildaÂ

Hmmm... I wonder if Eddie had the courage to tell his fellow Collingwood supporters to tone down the racism towards Nicky Winmar and Gilbert McAdam back in 1993?Dr Spaceman wrote:The trouble is that Eddie travels in exalted company, mixing with politicians, celebrities, high fliers etc.Sainternist wrote:Huh? Well I'm ashamed to be a Saints supporter this morning.
There I was watching the 7am news on CH 9 and the second story was about 'Racial Abuse' at AFL
There was the Majak Daw incident at Port Melbourne over the weekend
followed by
Collingwood President Eddie castigating a St Kilda supporter for comments made.
Although not racial, they went on to tell everybody how Eddie had leapt to the defence of one of his players, immaterial if they were black or white.
They then went on to tell us that Adrian Anderson had said that the AFL will not stand for racial abuse and will do anything to stamp it out.
Then Karl 'Gold Logie' Stefanovic finished made a poignant remark - 'well done Eddie'.
So once again we find ourselves besmirched in the media.
And yes, nobody is deliberately targetting us directly.
But the inference/connotatios are there.
We've effectively been 'named' (or associated at least) in a racial abuse row that never actually occured.
And the media are off and running again.
Watch the headlines we'll cop from this:-
'Saints Racial Row'
'Racist Saints'
'Saints Slur'
etc
etc
And they're all 'factual' and deserved, as I'm sure the media apologists will be quick to tell us.
Afterall,
allegedly a Saints supporting MCC member made an 'unsavoury' remark about Andrew Krakouer, who is an aboriginal and a former prisoner.
It's all that's seemingly required for the media to run with this story.
