Is the footy too loud.....

They should drop Coldplay, Matchbox 20 and whatever else they play before hand and just stick with Foo Fighters- The greatest band of all time, lead by the second greatest bloke in the universe (behind Lenny).
But no, I don't think it's too loud. I like the music before hand. The Ads are annoying, but ads are everywhere, get used to it, they aren't going away.

I understand that we need some sort of pregame stuff, now that the reserves are a distant memory. Gen Y cant cope with silence or the sound of conversation with someone for more than 3 mins without grabbing their phones and whinging to their friends about it (Via Facebook of course, not actually talking to them )
I like the old games they show...but if we are to have a MC, please let it be an actual Saints fan, not a rent-a-ponce like James Sherry.
What I dont like...
Being told "Get ready to make some noise for your team Saints fans!!!!!" patronising and annoying beyond belief..its not a Wiggles concert
Anything else but the banner and song during the teams running out (Melbournes bloody flames last week..save it for the 20/20)
That the song and occsaionally the siren are set to "Michael Bolton" levels, but the ads seem to find a notch marked "Megadeth"
I also cant wait for the display of odds to vanish forever. (why is it taking a year FFS???) I have no problem at all with those who wish a bet on the game, Ive done it myself..but the way the whole ebb and flow of the match is illustrated (often farcially) by the betting odds is just wayyy to over the top. Show em once pregame, then forget it. Im not into the races at all, but Id rather see the results from the quaddie at Flemington

I agree, but the thread was on whether the footy is too loud. The general consensus is that the noise is just plain unnecessary at best and bloody annoying at worst. THat's the point plugger - the footy is better than ever, so why do we need all the extras?plugger66 wrote:If that is all we have to worry aboutthen the game is in pretty good order. Footy is great and I suggest has never been better.
I can understand the ads and sponsorships etc etc getting played even though they are annoying. But my biggest bug bear is why on earth do we even have to some over excited imbecile trying to rev the crowd up and give the most mind dumbing interviews with supporters?

The music and ads are ******* deafening - it's insane.
I only see my old man a few times a year and it's usually when he comes to the city to see the Saints play. It would be nice to have a conversation pre-game and during the breaks without screaming at each other like we're in a night club.
Who's responsible for the for the "entertainment" anyway - the Saints or the stadium?

If the Foo Fighters are the best band ever then Tony Delaney was bloody Leigh Matthews.#1GILL wrote:They should drop Coldplay, Matchbox 20 and whatever else they play before hand and just stick with Foo Fighters- The greatest band of all time, lead by the second greatest bloke in the universe (behind Lenny).

Ludicrous.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Dave Grohl. Lots of people are saying that the amount of unnecessary noise at St Kilda matches is annoying.
To put it in perspective for you:
I'm pretty annoyed about the amount of background noise I hear when I attend matches at E Stadium.
I get heaps annoyed at f'wits who endlessly commit their idiotic thoughts to the public domain.
See? Degrees of annoyance, fw.

Uninvited and unwanted and irrelevant noise is a HUGE issue for me.
I don't mind my attempts at conversation being interrupted by announcements of team changes, or an interview with a retired Legend.
But I BITTERLY RESENT the constant interruptions with advertising, promotions, music and interviews with morons from the crowd.
They finally got rid of that "Voice of The G" idiot.
But now we've got that w@nker at Jihad that just yells all the time.
IT REALLY GIVES ME THE SHYTES.
I can't conduct a conversation against the noise of the mindless blurb.
So I just give up and read the record.
If you want to listen to music - then use your own iPods.
DON'T IMPOSE MUSIC ON ME !
Yes I miss that steady build up of natural crowd noise like in the good old days of Moorabbin.
Perhaps they could pump that through the speakers for Gen Y.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Is Peter Lazer the jerk that yells all the time as though something momentous has just happened whilst talking innane drivel?
He should be exported live to an Indonesian abattoir.

Some of the stuff is fair and reasonable -- announcements, introductions, etc -- but it doesn't need to be SO RAMPED UP
Some of the music is even OK.
It's the VOLUME plus the INANITY of so much of it that drives you insane
-- some amped-up spruiker telling me how close the scores are
-- the guy who can't even read the public announcements right -- " thank YOU for YOUR attention."
The Age article that started this post had a great idea right at the end -- the guy texted the 'anti-social behaviour' number when the betting announcements came blazing on.
Why not report NOISE POLLUTION to the authorities whenever it hits anti-social levels? I really like that idea.
If we all did it the message might start getting through.
