Votes St Kilda v Melbourne Round 9
5. David Armitage (could be best game for the Saints so far)
4. James Gwilt ( a week's along time in footy - couldn't have played better)
3. Leigh Montagna (once again, ran all day and kicked a goal!)
2. Brett Peake (ran, spread and won contests)
1. Clinton Jones (best game for the year, vintage defensive turned attacking game)
Honorable mentions: Jason Blake, Nick Riewoldt, Brendon Goddard, Arryn Siposs (I like players who can kick when they get it), Jamie Cripps showed a bit too. Good team effort. Pity we can't play the Dees every week.

5 - Montagna
4 - Gwilt
3 - Steven
2 - Peake
1 - Blake
Armo tried his guts out but wasn't as effective as he can be. Goddard and Roo got countless cheap handballs to puff out their stats way beyond their impact.
Joey was the star, Gwilt dominated defence, Blake got the midfield going in the second quarter, Peake was surprisingly good all day and Steven played his best game for us. Montagna is the one who really stands out, otherwise it was a reasonably even game. Definitely the most effort I've seen from the saints this year.

HA !
Beating the Dees should have been as easy as beating a five-year old at Scrabble. No wonder the TAB had dees at $3 for the win (I put $20 on them) and my missus quite rightly had a huge go at me for "being a d!ck" and not supporting my own team
Anyway a huge difference by having Joey back, fresh and hungry, and Gram and Big Mac dropped to scare the rest into action. Dees are injury depleted and have no real talent around the park.

Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, an unselfish woman- what do they all have in common? Answer- we would all like to believe they are true, but they are all fictional.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

5 - Gwilt - saved us time and again. Long penetrating kicking.
4 - Montagna - ran all day and was a great link man.
3 - Armitage - "mini Lenny" today - in and under all day.
2 - Peake - ran hard all day and was another link man. Kicked long.
1 - Jones - blanketed Davey and made lots of forward thrusts. Kicked long for a change.

Good team effort though. Just lacking one tall down fwd to help roo. roo still playing 3 positions by himself.
Okay, he's a skinny kid and a little on the short side to play key position (same height as Goddard). But he's a natural forward, knows where to run, and (very importantly) can kick.
Give him a run there. Not a lot to lose.
Hope we don't try to turn him into another half back flanker. Got enough of those.

siposs awesome. see him as that elusive damaging 3rd fwd type. stevie j height. can mark but can also crumb. hes a good target on the lead but not for the long bomb. we still kick a lot of 50 m bombs to milney and schneids which never ever work. especially when roo is pushing up playing a chf/wing.bigcarl wrote:Sippos?Con Gorozidis wrote:5 Armitage
