I used to have to get on a plane most weeks as a part of my work, airport trips, driving interstate, late flights home....that was very tiring. Driving about 45 minutes seems nothing, but who am I too judge.

Sure, it may not be a major issue to outsiders, but it is one of many little things that have happened this year that have pissed a few of the more experienced players off - I know this first hand.

As others quite rightly say, they are being paid plenty, so work/travel is part of the contract. In time, they will have to adjust, but it hasn't helped overall morale.

Perhaps it's because it's negative crap.

I'd take the Stan Alves approach with the players: If they don't want to be a part of our club, they can leave. If a piddly little thing like extra travel makes them lose games, God help us in the future.

Perhaps in their excessive spare time at the club they could practise hitting targets by foot and by hand; doesn't look like any of them have practised that this year.

Not trying to rude or abrupt but they really need to suck it up and get over it - driving an extra 20mins is not the end of the world - if they can't cope with something this small how on earth will they cope once the lights fade and no-one remembers them!

It's one of many reasons for our decline this year. You need to realise that these blokes are not your ordinary everyday employees. If they were we'd all be AFL footballers. Also, it's more than an extra 20 minutes, it's more than 30 minutes each way.

Before we go on - Im not re-igniting the Seaford good bad debate here. Its been done to death and is boring.

But speaking to a mate yesterday who has no interest in the saints but is an expert in workplace issues and HR. He raised the Seaford issue as I believe GT did last night.

The issue is not about Seaford. Just about change. People dont respond well or perform well immediately after major changes to routine and environment.

So the change to Seaford has probably caused angst just because majr changes really screw with peoples performance and sense of well being in general.

And before you say "harden up" and all that stuff - Im not saying this is the reason for our woes. I think its just a load of little things all adding up. This is just one of the little things.

I see what you're saying.

Quality thoughts, instinctively ppl would think better facilities better performances.

But changes to environments, changes to routine possible can have a negative effect.

Wonder if there are any psychology ppl that can assist with this...?

Agree to disagree on that - I know how long it takes me when I do the same distance ( and different ways/ peak and non-peak)

I agree - not everyday employees - but when you are employed and paid a massive amount of money to play sport bitching and moaning about some extra driving seems so trivial in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps focusing on some positive's might help the frame of mind.

oh my goodness, these afl blokes are so special they cannot drive an extra 30 minutes each way.

someone from my work has moved into a different dpartment was only 12km away and is now is commuting 76km away each way.

I dont believe Seaford will be much of an issue when the boys start moving onto the Peninsula. A lot of nice homes and spots there.
