1- Gram- Receiver found out totally when there's no one winning the footy for him. Embarrassed to some extent by the likes of Savage and Suckling, who are still kids.
2- Siposs- A silver lining on an ordinary day. Created chances and slotted goals in high-pressure situations.
3- Steven- Having a bad run of it lately. 7 tackles commendable but didn't get a sniff of the footy.
4- Jones- Good job on Mitchell but did very little himself offensively.
5-McEvoy- Hard working but a class below, a factor in the opposition's clearance dominance all season.
6- Dawson- Up against it all day against Franklin as it came in regularly. Held firm for a half, before Buddy tore him up.
10- Baker- Beaten by Breust and terribly undisciplined against Osborne. The end may be very nigh.
12- Riewoldt- Worked bloody hard all day as he was sent back at times to steady the ship. Gibson did a good job on him in the air, but the captain's early efforts and tireless run are a major credit to him. Kicking good early then deteriorated when needed.
13- Schneider- Did bits and pieces and hand across half-forward but didn't win enough hard ball in his limited opportunities. Tackled well.
18- Goddard- Not a midfield clearance player. It's terrifying how it all falls down without Lenny. He is so far off it at the moment it makes me cry.
19- Gilbert- Played through the midfield a fair bit, and he won his share of contested footy. Not our worst.
20- Armitage- Smashed comprehensively by Mitchell and Sewell. Class below these experienced campaigners.
22- Ray- Very quiet following illness. Didn't use it well either. Midfield runners aren't going to get much of the ball when the opposition starts with it all day. 4 tackles deserves a mention.
23- Koschitzke- Won his share of taps in the middle and contested reasonably well up forward and around the ground, but wasted his shots on goal.
24- Dempster- Can hold his head up high. Contested manfully down back and ran it out well including a booming late goal. Shouldn't be considered as a forward option, because he is a spoiler not a marker.
25- Fisher- Outstanding down back. Incredible composure mopping up everything. Credit to him, he and Gwilt prevented a 100-point loss.
26- Dal Santo- Disappointing in game 200. Never has been a clearance player and found out comprehensively without Lenny, and to a lesser extent Joey.
32- McQualter- Anonymous before being substituted out of the game. May be one to have his papers stamped in the not too distant future, although not for want of effort.
33- Gwilt- Dependable down back, as he and Fisher absorbed the constant Hawthorn forward entries, until it became a task too great.
34- Polo- Doesn't look up to the standard, as he made basic skill errors and didn't win nearly enough of the ball.
35- Cripps- Bobbed up for a couple of cheap goals, but didn't win a contested possession and didn't help the cause much. However it's hard to think there's any point in not persisting with him every week for a while.
44- Milne- Starved of opportunities and had a pretty dirty day, although when he leads up into the midfield it can create some spark. Problem is he often then runs into trouble.

Gwilt - Poor disposal and hesitated in decision making was costly
McEvoy - worked hard to contests and put bodyon line. Every game 1st ruck is a bonus for long term
Polo - is there for eDepth and probably leap frogged a few others today
Schnieder - Doesn't get to enough contests

McEvoy is clearly busting a gut and will get better.
Polo could be a role player in the future but how many of them do we need?
Schneids is a catch-22 because he'd get to more contests if he lost some bulk but his bulk helps him break tackles and win the ball.
Steven- both he and Schneids aren't quite fit enough which is a massive loss because they generally both use it very well and can fend off opponents.

As a debutant with a return of 5 goals from 8 quarters of footy the kid gets an A+ from me. The other elements will hopefully come but this kid knows where to position himself. Just witness his second goal yesterday, he got foiled in his first attempt, was clearly disappointed but stayed alert enough to snag the next opportunity two seconds later. Could not of said it better myself. I do wonder if the selection panel think the same and will stamp the papers of some players not to be selected again.

Good summary. I think though that Dempster is quite a good contested mark for his size, and can play forward or back. It's a pity that the backline has to come under scrutiny when due to terrible work, or lack of by the midfield, a flood of attack puts them under incredible pressure, and once the Hawks start attacking relentlessly, Buddy comes good, so Zac was really up against it. I agree Bakes is on shakey ground.

I'm just dreadfully disappointed in the effort of Gram, McQualter and Schneider. With the absences of Lenny & Joey they are the next level of mids that need to stand up & lead the way for the kids in the side.
Dal has always been easily tagged out of games, even with a full midfield playing and playing well. He's playing a lone hand now, especially with BJ in need of a spell on the psychiatrist's couch.
Gram has used up his credit points IMO. He is not prepared to show the slightest bit of physical presence, even to lay a shepherd is too hard. His effort in manning up in the backline at one stage was just embarrassing (I'll guard space instead of pushing a bit harder & picking up Breust who calmly slotted the goal).
McQualter's efforts were laughable. For a bloke who's career is so obviously on the line, he looks like it's just all too hard. He's back to looking like a 12 year old playing against men.
Schneider does some nice things but he should be making a statement this season. With Lenny out, he has the talent to be a factor in the midfield but it seems he's happy to play out his career as a inconsistent small forward.
There were plenty of others that failed to fire a shot in the last 3 quarters yesterday but it was in the middle and around the contests that we were embarrassed. It's a shame that we now go to the footy just hoping to see effort and ticker, whereas not so long ago we went knowing we would get those qualities in spades and expecting a win.

When we rely on him to be our primary winner of both, we're in trouble. 95% effective on 19 touches means he missed on target all day. Won 9 of those touches himself.

Absolutely not. I thought he showed something there when given a task against Carlton. He's tough, strong, elastic, brave and explosive and you'd reckon he would be keen, given 'stuff', to make the most of a new opportunity. As to his skills: Jones has been playing midfield.
