When was the last time we kicked 15+ goals in a game?

Post: # 1074584Post Legendary »

Never seen a side with such a fundamental structural inability to score as St Kilda.

How often in the last 12 months have we kicked more than 15 goals? Once?

It is absolutely beyond ridiculous. Our average score is something like 10-12 goals a game.

That sort of scoring ability doesn't cut it in modern football.

Blame game plan, players, clearances, Lenny Hayes not being available, coaching, mental scars from GF's ... whatever.

It embarrassing.

In 2005 I think we beat Melbourne 176-88, I may be wrong, and probably am, but that is the most recent example of a huge score for us.

In 2009, we kicked 25.11.161 against the Eagles, 17.9.111 against the Dockers, 20.8.128 against Collingwood, 17.12.114 against Melbourne ... and many more.

We also smashed the Bombers in 2008 by 130 points ...

However since about halfway through 2010 we seem to have been unable to score regularly and with high scores ... why?

It was tongue in cheek, because it feels like that long ago.

Against Port last year at Etihad I think. Might be wrong.

If we had of kept GT as coach, it eventually would have. We would have out-geelonged geelong.

I would still prefer to lose 150-149 then 39-38.

Run and gun Saints rocked :D

Would go to games and know something would always happen, short of one kick we would have made the gf in 04, so the similarities are there in results at least :D

Nor has Saints Footy, it goes without saying.

Good times, Carlton were our b***hes

Doubled teams scores, buried teams inside the 1st quarter but just kept on going

And on occasion our defense was just as mean as it is now
 except that we did not have to make it our end game, because we knew we would just go up the other end and kick another handful of goals.

We made Brent Guerra look good even :P

Absolutely correct.

But we won most of our games over the previous two years and people weren't happy because there was no flag.

So if we were to kick 15 goals a game over the next two years and still fail to win a premiership I don't think the fans would be all that much happier.

It might be prettier to watch but ultimately we all want that 2nd cup.

Is more just a commentary that both ways, run and gun footy and now Saints footy have come up with the same result.

Would I be happier though if we lost the grand final after smashing teams like 03-05? I have to say I would be a little, may have even got to run on the ground when our forward kicked 100 goals , so at the very least would have been more memorable :P

Personally, if Wanganeen had not pulled one out of his a$$ in 04 I think the Lions may have mauled us, but the following season, given how we ow the Weagles in Melbourne would have, and should have been ours.
