Just watching the announcement of the footy tv rights. Looks like a pretty good deal for supporters.

Live games fri, sat, sun on free to air.

All games live on foxtel. New channel. Fox Sports AFL.

Start times of games to change to accommodate.

I am happy with change of time for Friday night game- give country people better travel time,,,....

and once your getting home at 12.30 it might as well be 1 am.

other changes are minor.-

has David Leckie been up all night??? does not seem to be as clear in thought and discussion as the others.

I will now happily never watch channel 7 again..

They have been a disgrace the last few years with the footy coverage..

Fox is the big winner.. Can see massive numbers signing up for the live coverage...

I am a Foxtel subscriber, but how much extra will this cost. At the moment its $88 per month for the sports package not in HD.

Channel 7 will get the brace and bits and will lose major ratings. If you have Foxtel why would you watch channel 7 with AD's if its live anyway.

Interstate viewers are the big winners. Very pleased that all 4 Free-to-air games per week will be live.

Now will channel 7 start showing games in HD? Channel 10 and Fox show all games in HD when possible, why can't 7?

What will be the start times for matches under this agreement?
Friday night games will start at 7.50pm EST OR 8.40pm when played in WA or SA.
Saturday afternoon, 1.45pm EST and 2.10pm EST.
Saturday twilight, 4.10pm-5.40pm EST
Saturday night, at 7.10pm-7.40pm EST
Sunday early, 1.10pm EST
Sunday afternoon, 3.15pm EST
Sunday twilight, 4.40pm EST

You are going to have to watch Channel 7 whether you like it or not. Foxtel is going to carry the same picture and commentary for at least 2 and up to 4 games.

For the first time ever, the majority of games will only be available to those who have pay tv, and Foxtel at that. The title of the thread should be "Footy Wrongs".

That's where Foxtel could make up there money, and charge venues extra for there subscription. Reports on SEN is Foxtel will not charge extra, I will believe it when i see it.

Foxtel could be hoping for more subscriptions the problem i see is, families will use the club membership money to get Foxtel subscription instead.

At the moment Foxtel only show 4 games live. Next year channel 7 will have 3 games live and Saturday afternoon delayed. So free to air is better next year than it currently is. The different will be Foxtel will show 9 games live against channel 7.

I think it will make a difference to attendances and club memberships with going LIVE.

I got rid of Foxtel two years ago and haven't really missed it that much. So expensive for what it is. And prices on the way up I assume...

Only 3 games live on FTA.

Saturday arvo is a joke now on FTA with a 90 minute delay in Melbourne.

Foxtel is an essential service under thus deal, unless you degrade yourself to BigShitPond.

Maybe Channel 7 will try to combine the two.
