"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

He'd be a rugby league champion. Three way trade with Israel Folau and Billy Slater?Thinline wrote:Parramatta?BigMart wrote:Somewhere else...?perhaps in gold and blue

Thing is though he smashes in hard as. His physicality is great. But F*** me some of those foot errors... They just kill us every time....

I think its time he had a spell in the twos. Basic errors like running 20 metres without bouncing the ball and more skill errors than you could count. He appears to have lost all confidence in his own ability and plays like a rabbit in the head lights He also appears to be playing without the respect of the playing group and this might be why he is down on confidence

Dont you think we have enough blokes up forward who cant kick straight??SainterK wrote:He should be forward, we look so much better when he is, don't believe me watch the first quarter against Richmond and most of the nab cup.
Is this the same Gilbert who alledgedly asked Ross to move him back to defence??

We need him to put pressure on the defenders (which he does, they actually get quite nervous when he is buzzing around) lay some tackles, help keep the ball inside 50....a couple of goals would be great, and I actually think he is capable.bendigo bob wrote:Dont you think we have enough blokes up forward who cant kick straight??SainterK wrote:He should be forward, we look so much better when he is, don't believe me watch the first quarter against Richmond and most of the nab cup.

Sure he missed a few in the GF replay, but he had 3 shots on goal, we could do worse.

Yep, I reckon he's the best "ready to go" option apart from BJ, who is considered too important elsewhere.SainterK wrote:We need him to put pressure on the defenders (which he does, they actually get quite nervous when he is buzzing around) lay some tackles, help keep the ball inside 50....a couple of goals would be great, and I actually think he is capable.bendigo bob wrote:Dont you think we have enough blokes up forward who cant kick straight??SainterK wrote:He should be forward, we look so much better when he is, don't believe me watch the first quarter against Richmond and most of the nab cup.

Walsh and Archer possibly down the track, but Gilbert's the best "ready to go".

Not trying to make excuses but I reckon this whole Kim Duthie stuff must've really had an effect on him. Especially in recent times with the barrage from Hinch and the major media networks falling over themselves to feature Kim in prime time and the admission she made up the whole pregnancy thing.
Of course that has nothing to do with his inability to kick, but it could well have an effect on his mental wellbeing and his form in general.
Just saying.

I agree. What he needs is some kind of therapy. Looks like hes playing stressed. Not enjoying his footy. Petrified of making a mistake and playing with the wight of the world on his shoulders. Different to his carefree days back in 09.Dr Spaceman wrote:Not trying to make excuses but I reckon this whole Kim Duthie stuff must've really had an effect on him. Definitely his mind which is the problem. Needs to relax and chill out and not be so stressed. Have some fun out there Sam.

Fully agree. Put him there, tell him that's where he's playing, because we need him there, so he'd better like it and stop moving him all over creation, messing with his head.bigcarl wrote:Yep, I reckon he's the best "ready to go" option apart from BJ, who is considered too important elsewhere.SainterK wrote:We need him to put pressure on the defenders (which he does, they actually get quite nervous when he is buzzing around) lay some tackles, help keep the ball inside 50....a couple of goals would be great, and I actually think he is capable.bendigo bob wrote:Dont you think we have enough blokes up forward who cant kick straight??SainterK wrote:He should be forward, we look so much better when he is, don't believe me watch the first quarter against Richmond and most of the nab cup.

YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
agreed. look, he'll be back in form one day and this will be all forgotten, but he's going to need a little bit of luck to get to that point. if he can have a game with a couple of marks from opposition kicks floating across half-back and a goal running down the ground then he'll get huge mental benefits.PJ wrote:I think it's a knock on effect.
