Hope Jones stays in. Granted, gis form hasn't been great but I'm backing him to turn it around.SainterK wrote:He is getting alot of carrots then, isn't this the third time he has been named now, though admittedly as an emergency prior.bigred wrote:Winmar selection surely a carrot for him. I reckon
Out Hayes Baker Jones Blake
In Schneider Steven Winmar Smith
Archer is still in the squad, so I can't see Kosi playing?
agreed. at this point i reckon:bigcarl wrote:Hope Jones stays in. Granted, gis form hasn't been great but I'm backing him to turn it around.
IN: Schneider, Smith, Steven
OUT: Baker, Blake, Hayes
SUB: Steven, unless Schneider isn't quite match fit yet
winmar isn't quite there yet for mine. stanley hasn't been doing enough, and i don't know what his position is. only one of kosi and archer can play, especially with hille out.
overall this team looks pretty good, check it:
B: Gwilt, Dawson, Dempster
HB: Gilbert, Fisher, Clarke
C: Goddard, Jones, Montagna
HF: Gram, Riewoldt, Schneider
F: Gamble, Archer/Koschitzke, Milne
R: McEvoy, Dal Santo, Armitage
IC: Peake, Ray, Smith
S: Steven
the backline still looks quite tall so can be exploited by pace. but then there are nine legitimate midfielders (bj, dal, armo, joey, cj, gram, peake, ray, smith), plus steven as an impact sub, and schneider and milne who can run through there at times. that's two more than last week, so you can't say they haven't tried to get us some run. also four legitimate forward goalkickers (roo, milney, schneids, vegas) - one more than last week - plus archer or kosi for structure, and gilbo and bj who will spend time down there.
i don't know if it's necessarily going to work, but this is definitely an evolution of the existing side.

I wouldn't sub Steven.
Swap him with Ray and I'm happy with your team sheet.
Would go with Kosi over Archer, underdone or not.
Still has me arsed how Dempster kept his spot.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
yeah, the sub position is always a bit of a raffle.bigred wrote:I wouldn't sub Steven.

i'd love to see kosi play two full games at sandy, this week and next, really get some work into his legs and then have him ready to play forward/ruck after the bye - maybe even in some form. mcevoy can do 80% of the ruckwork again this week, coz he's got the week off next week to recover.bigred wrote:Would go with Kosi over Archer, underdone or not.
someone has to play on a small forward. none of the other defenders are really small and quick enough to do that. dempster's the only real choice, in the absence of baker and polo. (though maybe smith will get a run down there as well.)bigred wrote:Still has me arsed how Dempster kept his spot.
Yeah, I was just reading into the fact he was sub last week, like they are trying to find him a spot.bigcarl wrote:Hope Jones stays in. Its been done to death on the forum this week, but Dempsters footskills last week were atrocious. Not just bad.....
Missing targets by over ten meters while under no pressure is just not good enough. His turnovers last week cost us goals in an already leaky defence.
I would play Smith ahead of him atm.

i wouldnt play the big man till after the bye
dempster will surely tag watson (sorry K i just dont rate the foot skills and decision making)
cant see winmar getting a gig, but gawd knows how the selection process works.
schneides is a decent in, hope he's fit...might be the sub???, or subbed out??? to ease him back into it.
looking forward to the game.....there will be a bit of fire in the belly i reckon this week, roos 200th, grammy opening his trap, youth named, players back (possibly)
can see it being firey and a good game.
sunday cant come quick enough

Like that side very much, but I'd maybe lean towards Archer over an match UNfit Koz.Saints94 wrote:FB: J.Gwilt Z.Dawson R.Clarke

I get the feeling with Koz that if he gets a good start (something he didn't do last season) he'll be right for the year. To put him in underdone risks that 'good start' possibility. Besides Ross never plays them undercooked. So Archer for mine for a few reasons.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Yeah true, but i would prefer Rhys Stanley over Archer because of his athletisim and pure up sideThinline wrote:Like that side very much, but I'd maybe lean towards Archer over an match UNfit Koz.Saints94 wrote:FB: J.Gwilt Z.Dawson R.Clarke

Could someone please remind me how Dempster went in the final series last year?
FFS sick of certain players always copping it.
Just because he is named as ruck rover does not mean that is where he is playing, and if so it would be as a tagger a role he proved quite handy at in September last year.
yes his skills were terrible last week and if there is not a tagging role should not play but how about some analysis on some of the so called stars of the team who are playing like Busted Areses at the moment.
Including a couple of them not putting their head over the ball.
As I think David King said this week we could be two zip and the reason we are not is beacuse our top players have not hit the ground running.

Maybe it's because they plan to tag Watson with him - or make out they are going to ?Sainternist wrote:Dempster not only retains his spot but gets promoted as a Ruck Rover. How the bloody hell does that work out
FFS Rossco, why don't you buy him a new car and house whilst you're at it.
I wouldn't take too much notice of where they're named on the team sheet

I'll just take whichever one has more chance of actually kicking one of those goaly thingiesSaints94 wrote:Yeah true, but i would prefer Rhys Stanley over Archer because of his athletisim and pure up sideThinline wrote:Like that side very much, but I'd maybe lean towards Archer over an match UNfit Koz.Saints94 wrote:FB: J.Gwilt Z.Dawson R.Clarke

Agree that some of our big name players are well below expected standards so far - and are having minimal impact on games.
Even the captain - whilst putting in effort - is having minimal impact.
Some of the others just appear to be lazy and looking for sideways chips hence ineffective.
This is putting the pressure on the lesser lights - and bringing those into focus who are in focus.
With Harvey as one of the coaches this is surprising because Harvey always ran forward to create an option - then ran again and again.
Currently some can take a lesson from him.

wow, looks like Ross is trying to fight fire with fire (or pace with pace). Worth a shot.saintlee wrote:Final Team:
