When a top player is lost through long-term injury, a coach will generally opt for another experienced player to take his place. McQualter will come in as Lenny's replacement for the season and Steven will also get a run I expect in place of Dempster. Kosi's ankle may still be rested for a bit longer in the light of Lenny's injury, as we dont need more experienced players going down, so Archer stays in the team. I thought Raph coughed the ball up too much against the Tigers, and would happily try Lynch in his place in the backline
Why would a knee reconstruction have anything to do with Kosi coming back. If he is fit he will play and if he isnt he wont. It will have nothing to do with Lenny getting injured. If that is the case obviously Schneider wont play either as he has been injured all preseason and only had one run with Sandy 2 weeks ago.spert wrote:When a top player is lost through long-term injury, a coach will generally opt for another experienced player to take his place. And I reckon Mini is probably no hope this week unless he played well for Sandy yesterday. Any reports on Mini yesterday?

I'm talking experienced bodies in Kosi's case and he has had quite a few injuries over his career, and he's not a kid anymore- big blokes with bad ankles dont last long in the ruck, so he needs every chance to get the ankle right even if it means a couple more weeks on the sidelines. Flankers like Shneids underprepared can slot into a team easier than a big key position/ ruck player. Mini just cruised in the VFL, but will probably come in, though I think RL want's more intensity from him and he might get one more chance this seasonplugger66 wrote:Why would a knee reconstruction have anything to do with Kosi coming back. gee sorry king pluggerplugger66 wrote:Yes he got 2. Sometimes those eyes shouldnt roll.matrix wrote:someone said he got three weeks.
is this not the case and he only got two??
i myself was sure he got three weeks actually
anyway, will he even get picked
prob not
prob bring mini and eddy in
how far away is koz?
gards not in till a few weeks away still
bombers will pump us this week
cant see any kids coming in, still not running out vfl games without cramp, and getting niggles
You roll your eyes at me and I have a gentle dig and now I am king plugger. Your posts suggest you have lost faith in either our club or the coaching panel. Dont give up yet. We lost to a very good side by a point and played average against an improving side but still drew. it aint over just yet. Even if it is nothing should stop your full support of the club. Us old guys have seen things a lot worse than may happen this year or even in the next couple. Want bad, hope for the 80's again. We were a bad side and the fashion was even worse.matrix wrote:gee sorry king pluggerplugger66 wrote:Yes he got 2. Sometimes those eyes shouldnt roll.matrix wrote:someone said he got three weeks.

Back to next week. Kosi if fit will play and Schneider will play. Steven if he comes up will play and Lynch may play. Eddy will not and neither will Mini IMO of course so dont worry about those guys playing.

Schneider got two weeks and is now available but still might not play.matrix wrote:schneides has another week to serve yet
i bet no kids come in
after all the injuries and cramping in the twos i bet mini and eddy come up.
eddy to be elevated in lennys absence
Kosi should come in after the bye but will probably play.
I hope Walsh gets elevated but he probably won't.

All those who saw the Sandy game yesterday will agree that mini and Eddy were both poor. I thought Lynch was our best, and Steven did alright but could probably do with another match at Sandy. The most impressive to my mind was Sipposs. He is going to be a beauty. Johnson with 4 could be an outside chance. He is mature enough.

lost faith??
i think not pluggsy
while ill admit and have no prob doing so that some players looked like they cant be farked, some are going thru motions, some are in poor form, and some just shouldnt be getting a game, ill never give up on us making the 8 and having a red hot crack
a smart tipper would say the bombers this week, and thats who i will pick in my tips at work/online.
it'll be one tip i wont mind getting wrong.
ill still drive the 1500 km round trip when we make the finals, no doubting that.
its only round 2, granted, but some players need to show that they want it, we dont want to go getting into habits of shirking contests and dropping the head when we are down.
no doubt grams blog was right, the last couple of years are painful memories and it might be hard to put them at the back of the mind.
most of us want the kids to play, and this is fine, but upon reading great posts by those that were at the vfl game, it looks like a few still might not be ready...some not reading plays well, some cramping and not being able to see the game out at vfl level.
we have koz and schneides and gards to come back yet, so thats three good ins in my opinion.
schneides takes lennys spot (not necessarily the centre), and then the decision is who goes out for koz and gards
mcevoy is an auto inclusion now, every week.
so we need two players to go out for two talls.
archer maybe out for kozi, but who goes out for gards when he is fit enough to come back??
someone said the other week that eddy played great down in a back pocket, does he come in for a dempster or baker? and get elevated (i actually thought bakes didnt do that bad), yet dempster had a shocking night with disposal.
should make an interesting week, with posters debating who is coming in and who is out
roll on thursday when we can all find out.
so we can elevate someone now due to lennys injury?
how does this work, this rookie elevation thing etc

Archer > Kosi
Lenny > Steven
and if I was pulling the levers
Peake > Smith
We have too many defenders....particularly tallish defenders...and tallish defenders who seem incapable of playing well forward
BJ to play midfield now.
If you can only find room for Blake as a forward....> try Johnson who has looked ok as mobile third tall HFF.
Thinking long-term.
Blake, Dempster, Raph > Lynch (as a defender).
