it wasnt the game plan that failed... it was basic skills that failed... and problem.....
blakes kick that cost a goal.. is a big example...
mcqualter kicking it out on the full under no pressure is another...
the defensive side of our game was on....
our midfield was working until the going inside 50.. it killed us all of geelongs kicks came from outside 50 or tight angles except 2??

Yes you have got it but its not helped by having the bulk of the players at the wrong end of the ground for most of the game.wasaintsfan wrote:it wasnt the game plan that failed... it was basic skills that failed... and problem.....

I sort of understand as our lack of speed would be shown up even more if the flood wasnt on.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Again we started the season without one young new player making his AFL debut. Well done Ross, just keep playing duds like McQualter, stuff any young talent. We were going to attack more this year you said. Ross my friend I think somehow you are treating us supporters like idiots.
As usual there were 2 or 3 against Roo nearly all night yet you kept playing the same boring game plan all the time.
Do you have a rule that our back men must always look for a short pass instead of kicking it quick and long to the forward line? What will happen is supporters will stop going to watch your brand of rubbish football which was dished up tonight. I realize it was only the first match but please tell me where things have changed for the better on tonight's display.

It was never going to work.
Play Kosi, if he isn't ready, play one of Lynch/Stanley/Archer.
Get Steven to play Schneiders role next week.
Knee jerk threads on decline, season over, when it was so glaringly obvious what the problem was.

I've said it on another thread but when it was so glaringly obvious to most of us why can't the coaches/selectors see it coming. Especially when Ross had spoken about having more talls in the forward line all summer.SainterK wrote:This, This. Have a lok at everyone's predicted 22 for Round 1. Most included Roo, Archer/Stanley, Gilbert and Gamble up forward. Would have been a lot more dangerous and potent.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

It was very un-ross like though, he is so big on structure?
Gamble and/or Gilbert was supposed to be as well as, never instead of.
Two talls, two smalls and a medium forward who can apply pressure and kick goals.
