Had to laugh at a joke of a Roos quote last night SEN took on sports central an hour ago. They basically took something he said last night totally out of context and played it on air.

Roos stood up for the saints all night
I felt Roos stood up for Ross as much as stadning up for the saints

i doubt ross will have his job at risk any time soon.. hes done more with our current list then grant thomas could do with argueably the best list weve ever had

we no longer have guys like harvey to turn a pack inside out and pin point a pass to gehrigs hands who kicks the match saving goal

no hamill to protect players when theyre injured..

no longer have guys like hudgton who can keep any forward to 0 goals most games.

lyon come in to an aging and weakening list.. and lets face it.. he turned it into the power house of the afl...

as much as people hate people playing roles etc.... its what has got us from 06 falling out of 8 and 07 where we didnt even make it

into a prelim in 08 a gf which we shouldve won in 09(one really doggy decision) and a gf in 10(one bounce with seconds on the clock)

in all honesty if you give lyon a list more like hawthorns... they would currently have the 08 09 10 flags

a group of individual talents who you dont need 7 players to "fill roles"
the aging list and role fillers is grant thomas's fault...

Has anyone got any recollection of exactly what anyone said?
Is this stuff online anywhere?
What the hell did our "supporter" Thommo say?

I'll have a go Mbogo

Thomas clearly said that while he believes we don't have a culture problem, he believes we have a leadership / management problem, and if he meant it or not...it really appeared directed at Ross and Roo.

Roo shouldn't of called a presser, or at least someone should of stopped him. Nettlefold shouldn't of been in Hawai on a holiday when needed at the club. Club shouldn't of attacked the girl at the outset. Some veiled attempt to link the assistants leaving with the leadership problems.

He did include himself in the basket of guys though, who have been a part of a club that doesn't handle off field well.

They expect the players to be able to take all sorts of criticism, some warranted, some not.

Yet they are so damn precious when it comes to any criticism of their own performance.

It would be funny if it weren't so damn pathetic!

thanks for quotes and links ..... :)
Pity I did not see Thommo - but no need for blood boiling.
Mike Sheehan - pfft
How would these "legends" of the media treat us if we had not have drawn the GF?
Honestly it is bizarre how they hate us.
Good on Roos - a true legend and a man of intelligence - unlike his pouting petulent gray headed trog friend.
I also really hate Walls comment - what the f*** would that achieve - sack a few then leave it for someone to pick up the pieces. I do not know how these knobs even get their gigs. Who are these nameless dingoes we need to rid ourselves of?
Just hope some of our young brigade lift to prove we DO have a list !

Honestly, what bile.

This guy has been itching to flame Lyon cause quite frankly Ross has at least got us to a "chance"of a flag. With dopey at the helm with IMHO a better list we didnt even get a shot.

I spoke with an ex-St Kilda assistant coach last week his EXACT words when I asked about our coaching:

"Right now, bar none, you have the best coach going around. The previous guy absolutely f@rked your club" his exact words. This guy said Lyon is a hard task master no doubt, but he absolutely knows his stuff. His words - no he was not originally a St Kilda person but a very well known footy person whose honesty when talking with me was refreshing.

As for the previous guy aka "Grant"..........sadly some of us knew a long time ago when he wouldnt step aside for a "better credentialled replacement.." (cause who was better than him in the AFL with all his Warnambool experience....FFS..) that we had Darcula in charge at the blood bank.

Man manger...pfft...who does this failed corporate @ss clown think he is?

Heard SEN and john Ralph was talking about us sliding and when pointed out that distractions didn't screw us with the Lovett saga and that if not for a bounce of the ball we would have been premiers. The guy just dug his heals in and said there was no where for us to improve enough.

They seem to form one impression as a whole and it becomes the common response. Think Geelong sliding everyone is tipping it, BJ to be the best player in the AFL at seasons end. They all keep picking the Hawks and Dogs to improve, I can't get into the Hawks they are just not showing enough hunger.

Anyway it would be good if the journos had their own opinion.

Re the Roo presser ... the one Thommo found so ill-advised.

It's illegal for the media to transmit sexually explicit images where the subject clearly didn't consent to being filmed. Since Channel 7 had already aired KD's photos (pixelated), Roo went on the front foot and claimed (unconvincingly) that the photo had been snapped when he got out of bed and he'd asked Sam to delete it immediately.

This was an understandable ploy to prevent other media organisations publishing the offending photo.

Thommo should know that ... and most of our genius footy journos should know that.

The girl had tried to blackmail Nixon and others and was threatening to publish even more photos. In those circumstances, St Kilda's "heavy handed" threats to KD are also understandable.

Unless you don't want to understand.

Dogs are in the same boat as us as far as lists, been up there for a few years, so kids haven't had a huge amount of opportunity. Who even knows if kids will step up in the voids left by Johnson, Aker, Harbrow, Eagleton.

Maybe, but so might our kids.

Lake is the most important player IMO, I really rate him, and he isn't looking too good again fitness wise this year.

Will Hall have the dream run he had last year?

Maybe.

I just don't see how their maybe is better than our maybe?

People seem quite divided on this issue, both the media and supporters.

But I'm with you on this Waltza. Reckon it was the only thing to do; the right thing to do.

Thought it at the time and nothing that has happened since tells me we should have just shut up, or should've kept Nick out of it.

It was Roo's appendage on show and IMO it was his right to front the media about it if he so desired.

How long until our very own St Kilda schoolgirl features on The Footy Show?

ploy? if you want them not to publish, get your lawyer to send them a letter. there isn't the slightest bit of logic in airing your dirty laundry in public rather than rattling off a few quick missives from the pen of r levin.

absolutely his right. but that's not what this is about. it's about image and pr. from that point of view, it was absolutely the wrong thing to do. hunker down in dignified silence. notice that's what collingwood always do? there's a reason it works - it gives the issue less oxygen, and means you can only be bagged for inaction, which is minor.

on the other hand, stick your face out there in public and you give em something to play with.
