tom lynch
tom simpkin
wil johnson
nick heyne
Reckon they are playing at Sandy as ST Kilda named 29 players and are only allowed to play 24.
With these guys playing at Sandy that would leave the team of 24 plus an emergency in Coffs Harbour.
Am going to the game so will confirm later today.

Final Score: 19. 16.130 to Casey 12. 5. 77
here is my take on how the saints palyers performed
Johnson-played full forward, kicked 5 goals, competed hard, rarely if ever outmarked, definetly in the best
Winmar-best performance yet for the zebras, palyed half back, kciked a nice goal after running from the backline, showed some special talent
Heyne-played mainly half forward, bit on ball took a nice mark and goal, quieter in second half
Dawson-very solid at fullback, opponent hardly had a touch, continued on form from last year and could step in staright away, spoke to after the match and dissapointed that not allowed to attend tomorrow, suspension ends monday
Stanley-rucked most of the day and some spells up forward, won most of the hitouts against AFL listed ruckman (spencer and gawn), not always to advantage, took one speccy on the wing unfortunately not paid, very promising performance
Eddy-played as small backman and on ball solid performance, nothing special
Lynch-played mostly up forward took a couple of nice grabs, kicked two goals and a hand in several others
Ferguson-showed great pace and athletisism, has a crack but needs to work on kicking and reading of the paly, real project player
Andreoli-started on the wing, hardly noticed, blazed away at one stage but kicked out on full
Simpkin-played all day down back and took some strong grabs, competes very well, not afraid to put body on line, good performance
In summary all the saints got through unscathed.
dawson ready to slot straight in and stanley a chance. Depth is looking fairly good.
Of the sandy players, gallagher, irving and marigliani were as good as expected. wade looks a real find. Orr and meehan look promising. look to have improved.

Watched most of the game left late in the last with the scores as follows
Zebras 17 - 14 Casey 11 - 5
Windy conditions did not help the field kicking witht he breeze blowing towards Beach Road and favouring the Grand Stand end.
Sandy moved the boy very well in first half and last quarter.
Hope someone else was there to sumarise the Saints players as had son with me and he wanted to stand behind the goals so somewhat difficult.
Jackson Ferguson was down back, needs to put on some muscle and has both shoulders taped. He looks fast and athletic kicking may need some work but as I said it was blowy.
Warwick Andreoli is very slight but moved well and is a beautiful kick of the ball, kept confusing him with a young Sandy player early in the game but looked okay.
Will Johnson, kicked at least three goals and took a couple of strong marks, have seen a bit of Johnson at Sandy but that was the best I have seen him play, albeit a practice match.
Tom Simpkin was as consistent as ever at VFL level took some strong marks and was steady.
Nick Heyne I hardly noticed got s few kicks around the centre but had no influence on the game. Was dissapointed with his game.
Nick Winmar was the highlight for me, played down back and was composed and clean and skills were goos. He just moves like a footballer, also appeared to have a bit of it.
Tom Lynch played very well early and was having a good last quarter when I left. Kicked a couple of goals at least.
Robert Eddy played down back and dominated, but his kicking and decision making are poor hance him being back on the rookie list. Had a real go and was one of the best on the ground.
Zac Dawson did not get a heap of the ball but spoilt well, did not have a lot opposition to be honest. Looks like he needs some bulk up top.
Rhys Stanley started in the ruck and then played full forward got a bit of the ball around the ground in the ruck moved well up foward and got a feww touches. Dropped some marks when he had his opponent done. Looked fit and fast but still has a lot of improvement left in him.

No comment on Lynch plug?plugger66 wrote:Lets look at the guys who are a chance round one. Stanley was OK at best but IMO is still a certainty. Zac was good all day and should play. Simpkin was very good and must be a slight chance. Heyne was fair and that is about it. Ferguson was good for a first gamer but is obviously no chance.

Stanley was ordinary, Beaten in the ruck by Spencer and even Gawn who is skinnier than Stanley. Zebs finished up rucking James Orr who is short but has quite a leap.
Did not see Zac have one possession. Plenty of punches, but not one possession (I did miss most of the first quarter).
Eddy had plenty of the ball and was probably BOG.
Tom Lynch was in everything up forward, but butchered the ball a lot.
Heyne, hardly saw him.
Winmar was serviceable.
Simpkin tried hard.
Will Johnson kicked a few goals, but is only a VFL forward.
Don't recall seeing Andreoli.
Jackson Ferguson looks like the best thing we've got from NSW since Lenny.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Bit early to tell at the moment...but the signs were pretty positve today...Munga wrote:Cheers. Good to see the zebs up. How do you think they'll go this year Zebraman?
More accurate kicking would have seen the margin a lot bigger
Rob Eddy was in everyting...Tom Lynch held some very good contested marks...Will Johnson kicked 5 and really threw himself into it...
Sandy players to stand out....Paul Fermais..Gallagher...Marigliani...a couple of reseve palyers from last year acquitted themselves well...Cathcart...Meehan....James Orr from Box Hill looked pretty good..
Next week....Sandy V Port Melboune..another big test as Sandy hate Port Melb and vice versa
Very good yesterday.Dr Spaceman wrote:No comment on Lynch plug?plugger66 wrote:Lets look at the guys who are a chance round one. Stanley was OK at best but IMO is still a certainty. Orr played as a second ruck yesterday. Gasim looked ok at best.Con Gorozidis wrote:I have a simple question . Do Sandy have a ruckman on their list?
Given the Saints ruckmen wont be playing for Sandy this year, I assume they have a VFL ruckman who will be doing the job?
And dont say Archer please. Im asking about non-afl listed players here.

depends on the end of the ground you sit..matrix wrote:geez few conflicting opinions there......
I thought Nick Winmar was throwing himself into any contest he was near- best I had seen him play
and Will Johnston More involved than I have seen him in some games.
Nick w, Ryss, Will and Jackson all took strong marks at times...
