My Charity run for Leukemia
First of all , Apologies to mods if I'm not allowed to post this thread or if it's deemed inappropriate.
About a month ago my father was told he has less than 3 months left to live due to both Leukemia and pancreatic cancer. ( Both separate ) So I've taken it upon myself to try and make a difference and make my old man proud.
I will be doing a charity run from my home in Rowville 3178 to The MCG ( Melbourne Cricket ground, roughly 34kms and 6hr 10m. I'll be running it alone and unassisted . The reason I'm attempting this is to both raise funds and raise awareness. People need to understand that they can make a difference, not matter how big or small, it will still have a positive effect.
I want to raise $1000 so please make a donation. Fund's will be donated to The leukemia foundation. Guys this honestly means the world to me.
Please donate here - http://www.mycause.com.au/mycause/raise ... p?id=18008

Entirely fine mate.
Probably more suited to the general forum but seeing as that doesn't get as much traffic you can definitely keep it here.
Really sorry to hear about your dad and what you're doing is great.
That sounds like one hell of a run, make sure you break your shoes in first

Hey mate.
That's fine having it here until you do your run. It's for a good cause so hopefully we can help you raise the $1000 and more.
To an extent, know what you are going through. Had my father diagnosed with cancer almost 2 years ago now, was at a very late stage, but luckily he has had the treatment and everything seems fine now.
There have been many who have proven the odds wrong, hope for your sake this is another one of those times.
Best of luck, and best wishes to your father.
Ps. Just looked and you're up to $1615 already, that is brilliant!

SainterK, not too sure exactly mate. He said he saw my article and got in contact with the writer who is a mate of his. Not exactly sure how or where he saw the paper though. Bloody appreciate it though!!
Thank youbergholt wrote:excellent to hear.Calais wrote:Quick update - 4 guys were caught and and charged. Identified them this morning. Also my donations are up to $2900 . Extremely pleased as the money will definitely benefit the foundation.
Identifying them was definitely a bit of a scary experience. This whole thing has been. Wouldn't wish it upon anyone, It just messes with your head!
Quick update - Can lock thread if mods deem it appropriate .
My loving father peacefully passed away in his hospital on Thursday morning. Got to watch the footy with him Monday night. I was Wrapt as he was a massive Blues fan.
