I reckon they're just being ultra conservative and blooding a youngster at the same time.
Good call
Gardi woul be nice in Round 1.....but he is vital for the finals.
I fully expect that this year that they will with Gardi take the approach about having him at his best come finals. Not playing a full year would probably assist in this.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Id prefer Blake to ruck - has the tank and has done it before. Gilbert to FWD.
Walsh to back half - has as much experience as Archer (none at AFL) and I thought he looked composed last week.I also think debuting Archer in ruck/fwd is a much tougher role...
In the plus for Archer is he at least has played Australian Rules for some time....
Gonna be an interesting year.....at least we get to see some kids...

Sorry Bernard, no offence intended, just couldn't resist! :P
I also said Archer is a rookie and the fact is they are both rookies and cannot play senior footy until elevated to the senior list. I can't see any rookie being elevated unless they are going to play that week.
Personally I see more upside in Walsh than Archer. Let's see what happens at the end of the month.

amen. lets treat gardi as a september specialist and hope he does a clarke keating. 10 games for the year is all we should expect. remember he was very close to retirement. only the swedish surgeon gave him the sniff for one more crack. no dramas at all hes off until round 6 or 7.
where's mini in this, are u assuming that he's going to play mid/back, or do u think he won't be picked.[/quote
Would hate to think we are relying on Archer and Lynch to kick us a winning score. I would replace Archer with Stanley and have a Gilbert/Steven up forward. Mini I thinks may be struggling !!
Jack Newnes happy to be a Saint !!!! PS and to hit a target !!!

Get's some miles into Archer in the ruck.
Hopefully Kosi's injury will come along quicker than expected.
If we are relying on Archer as the back up ruckman we are f***ed. He's way underdone and needs more time. Look how we got smashed in the clearences last night.
Archer is Key Forward and not a ruck...so discount the Dons game where he did his best to fill in.
The game will have been good for him...and for the coaches to asses his talents.
But at his height, his future is not as a ruck. He is a forward.

yeah Archer is a forward. At 193cm Hes going to be giving away up to 10cm on most ruckmen. He needs a year at Full forward at Sandy and kicking bags of goals.
Im thinking Stanley CHF and Roo at FF with Ben in the ruck and Kosi back-up ruck and pinch hitting forward for the start of the season.
But with Stanley maybe under-done and Kosi still with a dicey ankle and definitely under-done. We may need Archer at FF in Round 1.
