Well I for one am pleased we are playing Essendon again...

Reason being is that I very much view the NAB as practice games to get things right for, including trialling payers, for the H&A...and one big Achilles Heel we had last was teams with pace, and in particular the Dons.

So to me this game is a perfect opportunity to once again work on this flaw...and to focus on players who can play well against such opponents.

Mini played a blinder last night...but can he back it up against quicker team?

A backline of say:

Baker (or Demspter) Zac (Walsh subbing for this game) Blake
Raph Fisher Gwilt

can hold most teams...but is vulnerable to pace?

Who can we try as small quick back? Smith, Cripps, Gram, Crocker????

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love nothing more than to get a win over the Dons. Their supporters are so cocky already after 2 rounds of the NAB Cup. Time to shut this mob up!

I hope several of the youngsters are still in the team for this week.

I don't think there is any doubt that they will be. Will be a case of which ones though as the coaches rotate them.

Lyon mentioned post match that despite good form that Ledger would probably be rested for Cripps/Crocker.

Zac playing against the Dons? He is suspended to the real season starts.

Agree SrS, a good trial for us.

As for winning, I'm expecting them to roll us, but the result doesn't matter, it's all about the minutes as Rossy has said!

Nice. Cripps did some nice things in the opening round, but didn't get a whole lot of possession so it would be interesting to see how he would fare over a full four quarters.

If the coaching staff is going to stick with Gilbert up forward, then there is definitely a need for a running half-back.

Stkilda playing essendon is like superman walking into a house made of kryptonite.

Another loss coming up.

I predict we'll lose 3 in a row to this achilles heel of a football club.

If you re=read my post you will note I said that Walsh was playing in Zac's spot for this game. The Zac reference was for the H&A.

yeah it'll be a good challenge- be nice to get a win over em even in the NAB cup. You would think the line-up wouldn't be as strong as last night- perhaps guys like Monty, BJ, Dal, Milney, S.Fisher, Gram could be rested. The whole Hird-Essendon thing is truly nauseating
