Essendon.

Lost 47-48 and then won 49 (1948 including a Draw)

Collingwood.

Lost 25-26 and then won 27, 28, 29 & 30

thanks HSV....but these are all well before draft & salary cap, so hard to compare.....

In the context of this thread it's relevant. Compared to Geelong who were smashed in their second Grand Final in '95 and Collingwood who were smashed in '03 we came within one point of winning the flag.

But more importantly, who cares? We make our own history.

Thanks for your constructive feedback, clown!

You can live in your doom and gloom world if you like...Me, I will point to the fact that we were a dodgy bounce away from a premiership. Granted we were completely outclassed in the replay. No doubt it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and it is made worse by the fact that we lost to Collingwood.

But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. On reflection, we had a very good year given the issues and obstacles we had to face. To make it to another Grand Final was an amazing result. Every year we have a minimum of five interstate trips and play a limited number of games at the 'G. Our GF opponents had (and continue to have) a charmed run with the fixture and a seemingly bottomless pit of money to spend on their football department.

I am still confident that we can bring everything together this season and have a third (or fourth) crack at a flag.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
