Raph has more upside and he could better free up Gilbert to play his new role.bergholt wrote:i agree that raph could improve us, but that position - running half-back - is one where we don't exactly have a shortage. there are many capable of playing that position: gilbert, lynch, fisher, dempster, simpkin, blake, goddard, winmar, clarke, gwilt, polo, ray, peake, dal santo, gram, gamble. yeah, some are better or worse down there, but i think we have a few options. third tall forward is much more important.SaintPav wrote:With our curent list, I reckon that Raph is a key. If he can finally come on and believe in himself and play consistent foot week in week out, we will be a much much better team.

Just know the types we do recruit....and our formula has seen very few good kids come through in the last 6 years.....and be regulars(the diff between us and Coll).....and our recycling has had hits and misses...

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

you dont know much by your own admission you have no idea so let me give you some advice, put your teeth in!plugger66 wrote:I will say i have no idea how good or bad our picks are apart from Gamble and Polo but i dont see what changes from tonight to make our depth any better than at the end of last season. We will win the flag only if Steven, Armo, Geary and one or two others come on.

In case no-one else has added a link to this footage, here is a video of some of Gamble's footy at Geelong: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?p=19615076
We could do worse than him kicking the odd bag of 4 goals for us. And one would imagine he'll be better now than he was when he did that a couple of seasons ago, when he was only 21.

He is an odd size and was behind S. Johnson, Stokes and even Shannon Burn at the Cats, he is a guy with potential that may just be a gun, for where we are at and the pick we used it looks positive.
He needs to be given a bit of time to find form with out the pressure being on him. He has to at worst rev up competition for Minis spot.
