Ross on SEN recap (SB has now provided a link of the audio)
Went in with the purpose of drafting our next generation of mids....
Have already drafted talls/backs in recent years, this year was about for mids for St Kilda.
Really wanted speed, ball winning and line breaking....first three of our picks were that.
Knew it was worth collecting the talls prior to this year, because the talls would go early with the GC (and the first 25 picks pretty much did)
Cripps should and could break in this coming season. Crocker breaks the lines. Sippos freakish as a forward, x-factor, wins one on ones.
Gamble, forward pressure is underrated. Leap and mark, football character is sound. Wants to resconstruct our forward line, allows Milne and Schneider to play higher. Compliments all of Roo, Gilbert and Kosi through the forward line.
Polo, finished in the top 10 of the B&F for Richmond.
Gonna try to catch the Pies.

And who is going to run the ball out of defence when Gilbert goes forward.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Interesting that he named Gilbert as being part of our reconstructed forward line. Very happy with that. Aside from his kicking for goal, which can be improved (especially with experience) I liked a lot of what I saw in the two GF's (when he was forward).
Collingwood crucified St Kilda in the second GF for not being able to clear the ball from defence when Gilbert was forced forward.
Gilbert is needed in defence and attack, just like Goodard is needed in defence, forward and midfield.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

He is exactly the same as any AFL coach these days. Maybe I aint a real saints supporter but I certainly wouldnt hang on every word any coach says including ours.Teflon wrote:I like the fact that the homework has been clearly done. Loved that he knew every player. Weaknesses, strengths. Granted anyone could have done the research in the time between drafting and interview.
But liked how he provided insight into our drafting strategy, the recent recruitment of talls. And the fact that we wanted to add to the next generation of midfielders to add to steven armitage and geary.
Liked how he stated they want to restructure the forwardline.
Even if it doesnt eventuate. Gives hope. And more importantly gives excitment and he knows that... Effectively builds our brand!

YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
Hope that is a joke. Anyone expecting our draft picks apart from Gamble and Polo, even though I am expecting neither, to have any impact next year are just kidding themselves.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Cripps.ace wrote:And who is going to run the ball out of defence when Gilbert goes forward.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Interesting that he named Gilbert as being part of our reconstructed forward line.
