Now happy there was a draw ....

Post: # 1009151Post Newman »

Sure it's not a premiership - but at least it will be the 2010 Grand Final that will remain on the minds of many AFL supporters. Many would agree that if there was extra time we would have won it. In years to come on Flashbacks they won't be showing the re-match as often. After all who wants to see a losing team kick 1 goal to half time? People will want to watch the thrilling 'draw' watching out for Goddard's brilliant mark. I know ... it's not the same - but imagine if there was only one GF and that was the one played on the weekend? I think by having the draw we at least showed the footy world we can match the Maggotts (or is that Tattpies?) and what a great effort to match a team that had just played their 10th game in a row at the MCG! (But that's another subject.)

Could only be happy with THAT draw if won the replay

Draw as far as a saints supporter can now be lost for ever same as the relay GF

No. I am also pleased we had the draw. The club has now been in 7 Grand Finals, won one, drew one, lost five. Better that 6 for 1 win 5 losses.

20 seconds time on and a victory would have been much better.

It has elevated my pain actually.

To see us perform like we did last week, and then the way we did this week, I would have just rathered it happened the first week.

Leaves you more gutted thinking '1 more point it was ours'.

The main positive is that Ross will now be forced to make the changes required. As the Pies did by playing the youth and leaving out the Medhursts, Lockyers & Frasers etc.

I think Ross knows this and is already stated the youth will get alot more opportunities next year.

Aside from the club actually making more money, I'd have preferred if the drawn Grand Final never happened!

It makes it all the more painful!

If we had of been beaten in the first Grand Final by 56 points it would make it easier to get over!

The drawn Grand Final makes the pain of it all almost too much too bare!

No disrespect intended, but I seriously cannot understand the OP at all in any way shape or form!

The draw is the only thing that comes close to resembling the ultimate success for the Saints in my lifetime

I mean, we didn't lose & a Saint won the Norm Smith medal. It's the closest I've ever seen us to winning a Premiership.

It's sad, I know, but I've even brought the DVD, as it's the only thing that I can cling to for now

Wish it NEVER happened. Cost me an extra $3500 to watch the tripe that got served up at the weekend.

No. It wasn't a win and means squat. If it wasn't a draw we might've won too.

I know I'm out on a limb but think GF 'draw' teams should be made joint premiers and the replay winner should be given a further title.

There's something to be said I think for being rewarded for your part in an unsplittable decider.

IMO. I know I'm Pat Malone.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

The GF Draw means little more than "the streak".
