Kosi???

Post: # 1008685Post Cooper »

I'm not deliberately wanting to cause an uproar, but genuinely wondering if Kosi should be traded?? What do you think?

He'd fetch nothing more than a third round pick. At the very least he's a better backup than Pattison.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, and I will probably realise later that I'm being silly....BUT

Right now, after yesterdays heart ache, I would not be against trading Kosi and our first rounder for Fev.

There I said it, now criticize me because odds are I'll be kicking myself later.

Didn't Koschitzke sign a 2 or 3 yr deal this year, somewhere in the middle?

Irrelevant thread.

Must play in the ruck.
He offers nothing as a forward.
If the ball is not delivered to him perfectly, he just guarantees an turn over and an easy run out of defence for our opponents.

They will still put him on the trade table.

And fetch a 3rd round draft pick for him?

He is of no value to anyone, anywhere anymore. Our best shot is to persist with him because no one in the outside footy world would rate him any more.

As trade bait he has no value.

He's not a ruckman.
He's not a forward.
He's slow.
He can't pick up a ground ball.
He has absolutely no second effort.

He is a one trick pony - mark and kick.
But he doesn't even mark it much.

If Stanley shows any sort of development over the summer Kosi will no longer be in our best 22.

I think you might be right ace - the ruck is the best place for him. He can't seem to take contested marks anymore, although he remains a pretty good kick most of the time. His CHF days are over I think.

If we somehow cleared up some cap space I'd be very happy to make an offer for Fev. Brisbane wouldn't demand much, they'd be happy to offload him cheap; they've already tried to sack him.

Carlton are still paying some of his contract I think, maybe Brions can chip in and we might get away with paying him $300k a year?

I really have no idea how it works to be honest.

I think the club has learnt the hard way about trading first round draft picks, particularly for controversial players.

Our first round pick this year is the equivalent of a mid second round pick any other year. I'd be quite happy for the club to gear up for another crack at the flag rather than take more kids. If we could get two quality players who would step into the team and be in our top 15 then I see no reason why we wouldn't be a real contender again.

Oh for goodness sake, don't tell me he had a broken foot to go along with his myriad other injuries?

He should have been traded at the end of '08. Now he is worth nothing and some idiot at the club has signed him for another two years. I give up.

Is a ruckman.

Played time in the ruck in the last two finals series.

Plays his best football as a ruckman pushing forward, unless we play a weak opponent (then he can do some damage at FF).

Should be second ruck next year.

Develop alternative forwards, and ruck Gardiner/McEvoy/Kosi depending on form/fitness.

if riewoldt doesnt get a good delivery it goes straight back out... then he has a tantrum and lets his op run off.... so whats your point????

the problem in our forward line is the delivery into it.... has been for 3 years now... kicking it over roos head in a 3 on 1???

slow high kicks to milne when he had 20m in space.. allowing them into the contest...

then theres the others who are 40 out slight angle and then decide to kick it into a contest rather then take the shot....

blame kosi all you want... until our midfield delivery improves(like it did in our winning streak) our forward line will struggle especially in a zone style back line get it wrong they have 5 loose guys running it out

+1. These are the cold hard facts.

We could trade him but I dont think Old Xavs are allowed in the AFL draft and a "years supply of party pies" might not please the saints nutritionist. Cos that about what any trade for kosi would involve....
