Re: Best and Worst
Dal was OK, but boy did he butcher the ball, He also got murdered in transition by all of his direct opponents.BigMart wrote:Best

Missed several critical shots when it mattered and spent most of the day up field kick chasing. Never any where near home when we got it.
Another massive grand final failure and no excuses this time. Sorry but we should expect a lot more from a captain.
Lot to answer for IMO

There are a number of our players who were far too slow!
Dempster, whenever he gets the ball taakes a fortnight to get rid of it. He often ignores players on their own and checks out all other options. By then that player is covered. He nearly always kicks to a contest.\
McQualter, always looks slow for his size, as does Baker nowadays.
Peake and Jones and Gram are supposed to be our fastest. Gawd help us.
When you think of the fast players that should make the team next year, like Miles, Stanley, Walsh, and perhaps Smith and Steven, there is still hope for us, but only if we bite the bullet.

Yep, thought Zac did his job, in fact I think our defence did extremely well considering the amount of time the ball was locked in our defensive half. Gilbo, Blake, Zac, Chips and Jimmy battled manfully. Our midfield and half forward line were destroyed3rd generation saint wrote:Wouldn't put Dawson in our worse, he actually beat Cloke on the day so he did his job, one of our if any winners.
+1, our defence did amazingly well given the game was played up there so much.BringBackMadDog wrote:Yep, thought Zac did his job, in fact I think our defence did extremely well considering the amount of time the ball was locked in our defensive half. Cannot kick the ball. All Australian? Not for mine.
Dawson won his spot and Gram was clearly playing injured (again) and then concussed.
I don't know why they didn't play Milne in the midfield which is where we were losing it, the ball hardly got to him, so find it hard to be critical.

Montagna has had a fabulous season.
He was very good last week.
Agree he had a shocker today but don't denigrate his whole season.

His game last week was poor. He wasn't in the top 10 as nominated by Saintsational members, and yet he is supposed to be a "gun". He has never played a good finals match. Games against the bottom eight count little in my book. He is nowhere near the class of Lenny Hayes or Brendon Goddard.Enrico_Misso wrote:Montagna has had a fabulous season.
