Yeah that'd be it. What is long-jeopardy anyway?
Never heard of it.
According to the Oxford Dictionary:-
long-jeopardy
Michael Malthouse, the longer he stays at Collingwood the more jeopardy he is under in receiving a knife in the back from his trusted President and/or assistant.

Wow. I can't believe that. Hirdy was obvious and the whispers have become roars. But Bomber. Can't believe it. Won't believe it till they announce it. Geelong will have no trouble replacing him, but they will be furious. Dream marketing for the bombers. I think Bomber is a good coach and will be a great director of coaching and mentor. I didn't think he'd go for that type of job. Hmm, very interersting.

Corcoran is at Melbourne Rebels, the new rugby union franchise.

Has there been any word about whether we are looking to replace Drain or will Hutchison just expand on his current role?

Bad idea the dual roles. Two super egos can't be good for anyone. The bombers do have a decent core as much as some deny it. The young guys they have still need a bit of time but there is potential. I can't help feel that Hird undermined Knights and exited him.

If those guys come on he will lap up the credit.

Not sure that this is the answer to woes of Essendon. Feel good story yes, help to get them out of the crapper - not so sure. Should do wonders for their membership though.

Hird announced as Essendon's coach at their press conference.

Yet to speak with Thompson or organise the rest of his football department. This will be done over the next two weeks. But really, can anyone believe anything Hird says?

Word is Bomber is virtually a done deal. He agreed to it last friday, Geelong are trying to convince him to stay this morning.

Hirds told lies the entire way through, was lying last night too when asked about not speaking to Bomber..

Same for Bomber.

Disingenuous sneak.

Stay Gaz. Stay.

See ya, I'm off too.

Pfffft.

Untried coach and a mentor with no plan B.

I think the whole thing reeks of absolute disaster. And I'm glad.

Think you may be right. Can see them going after some big name players in the draft to try and fix their woeful list as the most of the kids in the draft over the next few years will be going out of Victoria.

With their current list, Hird will need a HELL of a lot longer than 4 years to get that team out of the crapper. Wonder if they will turn on Hird in 2+ years if the team success remains the same as it has been over the past 2+ years......

Wonder how Mathew Knights (the 'rebound' coach) is feeling right now......

Interesting, their list is reportedly very poor, not sure Bomber has the quality at his disposal this time.

Thompson again spoke of his admiration for the many Geelong players prepared to sacrifice a cut in their wage to play in a successful side.

"All I said was a lot of our players have stayed for the right reasons because they love playing together and they love playing for Geelong and they love playing footy together," he said.

"That's me too. That's what I love about team sports and what I love about what Geelong's doing at the moment."

So Bomber has a go a Gary for leaving and says when asked "can you understand Garry leaving for money?"

And Bomber replies "Na!"

Then a month or so later after a PATHETIC coaching performance in the prelim (no game plan B,C,D) Bomber goes to Essendon for money.

What an idiot.

This sooooo like Malcolm Blight mentoring Tim Watson....

I'm just glad it ain't us making the mistake.

And what's in the water down at Sleepy Hollow...One year that doesn't go to script and they all start jumping ship...

To me, Hird always looked to be a potentially successful coach BUT let's hope this isn't going to lead to career suicide due to the lack of coaching experience.

Should have entered a Buckley-esque deal, but only time will tell how successful he will be.
